This is the name of a money order I just received today...i almost thought it was a practical joke, until I saw travelers express was the issuer...

By the way who is travelers express? I've received many money orders issued by them...

I can't answer the traveler's express question, but Kum 'n Go around here is the new name of all the old 7-11's. I guess not real new about 3-4 years old.

It kind of gives us all a chuckle too.

We've got a gas station/convenience store here called "Fuelin' Around". The first time I saw the sign, I did a double-take. It's kinda cute though!

Yep, Kum and Go is the name of convenience stores. I get my gas there and my coffee.
They're owned by the Krause-Gentle Corporation in Des Moines Iowa.

When I lived in Nebraska, we had a
Gas 'n Grub on the corner.

I don't think I'd be buying coffee from a store with that name.

I always found Publix to be a strange name with unfavorable alternatives.

Last year, I received a money order from customer in Oklahoma that was from Kum and Go. I, too, thought it was a joke. I was too embarrased to ask on this board about the legitimacy of the name so I searched the internet and found it really existed.

My husband and I really laughed about that one. It reminded me of a client I had when I used to "work." They were The Lover Agency and they were located on Everhard Rd. They are an insurance agency but boy, I bet they got a lot of snickers!

Several years ago there was a law firm in Manhattan: Lipschitz and Fahrts.

I wonder if the Krause/Gentle Corporation of Des Moines is the parent of Krause Publishing of Des Moines, former publisher of eBay Magazine?

If so, the name of the convenience store chain takes on a double irony.

not SilkMoth anywhere but here

At one time I lived a few blocks from the office of Holley, Allen, and Klutzz Dental Associates.

I thought Kum and Go was a sister corporation to PayPal with the parent corporation being, Dump and Run. According to their corporate filing, the law firm representing them is Screwum, Cheatum and Lye.

One a more serious note... ok, not anywhere near serious but very truthful... The Buffalo, NY area must be full of slightly demented advertising agencies assisting start-up corporations with names to help their corporate image. Honestly, from yellow page listings from the Buffalo area phone directories...

Heading: Funeral Directors

Listings:

Amigone Funeral Home Inc

Bury & Roberts Funeral Home

Cremation Centers (this one sounds like it may have a drive-thru with flashing neon that says "open 24 hours."

Exodus Gardens Funeral Home

Urban Brothers Funeral Home (Is their motto, "Where drive by shootings are our specialty"?)

Urban-Amigone Funeral Home (I think with this one they car-jack the hearse on the way to the cemetary.)

and, drum roll please...

Coffin Brothers Mortuary.

This thread is getting really interesting! Hee hee!

Restaurant near my hometown in Vernon, NY: Squat and Gobble

My sister had a professor at U. of Buffalo called Dr. Dipshitz. He asked the students to call him Dr. Dip.

Names we've collected from the newspaper:

Jock and Ball Unite in Marriage

Obituary for Harry Weiner. 2 weeks later there was an obituary for Harry Beaver. I thought I was going to die when I read that second one.

Perhaps the Kum & Go chain is owned by the same parent company as In-N-Out Burger?
