I had a listing which I revised today at 3:00 to include buy it now as an option. It's now 4:15 and the buyer just contacted me and said he is sending the money with Paypal. I can probably get it in the mail today for him. God I love the Internet.
I'm thinking I better order some more boxes from USPS.

Hope Auctionwatch moves quick on this one, I will need to list using eBay's forms until they get AuctionManager updated.

AW will probably wait until after the several months of "testing" that ebay said it is conducting, before deciding if they are even going to impliment this extra option.
Congrats on your first sale Brig, I knew it would happen extremely quick for you.

I'm interested in whether Ebay is expediting EOA notifications for "Buy it Now" auctions. Please let us know how long it takes to receive the notification.

CONGRATULATIONS! Now, when you revised, did you revise your title and if so did you put in "Buy It Now," "Buy Price," or "1st Bid Wins" in your title?

I didn't change the title to anything about Buy It now...didn't change anything in fact. Just added the buy it now icon and priced Buy it now at 5.00 higher than my opening bid. the item sold for what it goes for retail (8.00.) I doubt I would have gotten that for it in open bidding.
I will check and see if Ebay has sentme anything yet. I kinda doubt they will...you know how slow they are.

Becareful putting "First Bid Wins" if you priced it at $1.00 starting and a Buy it Now price of $8.00 - just a word of advise. But if you put start at $8.00 and the first bid is $8.00 then it is alright

What did the auction page look like afterwards? Did it end the auction, automatically? What showed on your sellers list?

AmyM: it ended the auction automatically. On my "My Ebay" page, it showed Ended for that auction. When i clicked on the ended auction page, it said something like "Sold at buy it now price" right next to the final price. Other than that the ended auction page looked exactly the same as regular ones do.

I just got the end of auction notice from ebay----that's pretty good---2.5 hours from the time the guy hit the Buy it now button. It looks exactly like any other end of auction notice.

You said you just added the "BUY NOW" Icon - I checked a lot of BUY NOW or BUY PRICE and/or 1st Bid Wins auctions and through the search feature page I don't see they are marked with any type of icon....I presume you mean on your auction page where the icon shows up?
Would be nice if eBay would come up with a "BUY PRICE" Icon so we wouldn't have to waste title words writing 1st Bid Wins!
Well Congratulations to you - but I don't seen anyone else rushing in here to say they sold something right off the bat ! Hope to hear someone else has been this fortunate also.

Cripes...I just sold another one!!! and the buyer already paid by Paypal. I'm going out to freakin' dinner. I deserve it.
jwpc, I heard that an icon is coming, but isn't ready yet. What I meant was I revised my auctions to add the Buy It Now functionality. Frankly, I don't think adding it to my title would be a good use of that small space---if they like my stuff they can buy it right away, or not.
I'm TIRED!!!!

THANK THE ALMIGHTY LORD........I JUST SOLD 2 ITEMS TO 2 DIFFERENT PEOPLE!!!! CAN YOU TELL I'M EXCITED???????? The only thing is there is no notification......you have to keep a close eye!

The "Buy It Now" instructions are a bit "thin". Do you include the shipping costs in the "BIN" amount or is that added on just like a regular auction?
Can't find anything which addresses this in the few..VERY few...instructions.

No the shipping costs are added in afterwards, just like all regular auctions. They probably should explain that better for the benefit of any bidders who are new to ebay, but both of my buyers so far have understood before I told them---shipping is extra (just like a regular auction)
the end of auction email looks just like a regular email from ebay and says contact your bidder, etc. Which should be a hint at least to olde users, if not new ones, that they are doing the same old same old, except that the thing ends right away instead of in 7 days.
some will probably assume it means shipping included just as some assume "Final Bid" includes shipping----but I don't think it's going to be a major problem....

Mallard88: You said be careful...does that mean we must always put our start price the same as the Buy It Now?? It looks like if we start at 1.00, bids go to 7.00, and our Buy It Now is 8.00, the item gets Sold @ 7.00...is that correct thinking?? Thanks for answering.

my start price was 4.00....my buy it now price was 8.00...the bidder could have chosen to either start the bidding at 4.00 OR pay the 8.00 and close the auction. He chose the 8.00 in this case.
If he had chosen instead to bid 4.00, the buy it now thing would have disappeared off the auction completely and it would have gone exactly like any other auction. Could have stayed at 4.00, could have gone to 1,000.00. After the first bid is made the buy it now price is terminated and it proceeds as usual auctions do.

I wonder why ebaY doesn't allow the Buy It Now option to continue after a bid has been placed? I've auctioned a few books on Amazon with a Take It price, and accumulated several bids on books before some bidder finally decided to Take It right out from under the others' noses. That was kind of fun! When that happened, I got a notice almost immediately from Amazon that my auction had ended at the Take It price, and it moved from my open to closed auctions on AW. Seems to me that it added to the auction excitement...low bidders could sit tight and hope it wouldn't sell, but knew there was the chance they could lose the item.

WOW! I put up one item just to try the buy it now feature and it sold within a hour and a half! This will be great for things that I know exactly how much I want to sell them for.It will also get more people looking at the new items page in the listings, maybe will mean more browsing and more bids on the regular auction items.

I would suggest NOT putting "buy it now" in the title of your auctions. Because if somebody comes along and bids, the "buy it now" goes away and you'll be stuck with it in the title.

Psyllie..I thing you raise good points but all in all I think it's better to have it disappear, because then if the first bidder picks the auction format instead of buy it now, it can go higher than the buy it now price was. I think it's kind of cool that it's totally up to that first bidder. If they want to take their chances they can (and maybe end up paying way more than the buy it price, who knows) and if they want the sure thing they can have it too, but they can't have both. I am listing things with buy it now prices that I'm happy with, but I won't be *unhappy* if they choose the auction format instead...my start prices for books always have a minimum profit built in.

Glenda, excellent point, I hadn't thought of that! I wouldn't put it in anyway because it's too many letters and I'd rather come up with a search term for that space instead. But I'm already seeing listings with it in the title.
