Today on one of the boards someone posted an auction #. Turns out that it had the Kak worm/virus on the auction itself & was activated if you had Active X running.
A very experienced user took a look and said that indeed the auction did have the Kak on it & contacted Safe Harbor.
He later posted:
Well, the auction with the KaK virus got knocked down, so it *was* a virus, and yes, it HAD to be deliberate, the code
was too pretty to be "just an accident"....
And Active X is needed to run eBay's photo hosting services. Wunnerful.

Hi reddeer...Sometime back, when I first noticed Ebay requested to enable ActiveX, I mentioned that was a dumb move, considering so many viruses enter throught that door......And yeap!....It's come to pass...
How in the world do they manage to remain so powerful...with such lame-brains running the place...
******************** Gosh Shosh!

Norton is directing people to the pay phone nmumber. Unusual since it's always been otherwise. My guess is something bigger than that is going on.
Also, ebay is showing signs of the site being hacked. "Letter" dropouts appear on the pages.
Maybe check out CERT advisories for more information.

For protection against the KAK worm virus and just about everything else you can think of, download InnoculateIt from CAI. It is a really superior virus protection, and they will email you everytime there's an update. I had the KAK worm and I downloaded InnoculateIt and have had no problems with KAK or anything else since. Can't say enough good things about it! It's really wonderful. The link is: http://antivirus.cai.com/ and it's a free download.
