I found this little wooden Schmoo? today, and I can't figure out what he belongs too. I found the old woman belongs to the Old Lady in the Shoe by Playskool, but I can't find her friend. Has anyone seen it before?
Thanks!

Wow! Talk about a flashback. I'm sure I had both of these toys as a kid. You're right, it does look like the Schmoo but I think that cartoon came later. Unless the cartoon was taken from an earlier toy??
P.S. when i saw this thread, I thought you were talking about a sewing implement called a schmoo, which is an oddly shaped tailor's cushion used for steaming curves. I thought whoa, now that's an esoteric question!

I think he looks more like a baby seal. When I was a kid I had a schmoo & I don't remember it looking anything like that.

I think you have Old Mother Hubbard and her dog, perhaps from the PlaySchool company (Weebles?)

Weebles was the very first thing I thought about when I first saw your image.
Weebles wobble but they don't fall down?

A Schmoo had whiskers sort of like a walrus and was shaped like a gourd. If you do a search on eBay for Schmoo, you'll pull up a few items.
I think this is either a Fisher Price or Playskool little people dog.

They do look like weebles, but I seem to remember something about weebles wobble but they don't fall down. These don't look like they wobble. I think I need to go to bed. Just looked at some weebles, they have round bottoms.

These are dated before the weebles wobble. they are playskool (pretty sure). I still have my sons playskool bus from 1968 and it has little wooden people, the bottom part fits down into the bus seats.

I'm almost positive that is a playschool toy. Our home, years ago, was I think where Playschool toys went to die!
Schmoos were funny little creatures in the old Li'l Abner comic strip. They were cute and sweet and mischievous, as I recall. Shaped like a gourd, fat bottom, little head.

Definately not weebles. Weebles are rounded on the bottom so they wobble but don't fall down.
I think your 'schmoo' is actually a dog without his ears. I vaguely remember we had that same little doggy when we were kids.

Yes...the Schmoo in the cartoon looked kind of like a cross between a ghost and a walrus. I loved that little guy.
Definitely not a Weeble.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I have confirmed they are not Fisher Price, and although I picked them up with a bunch of Weebles, all Weebles that I remember are egg shaped(so they don't fall down) I found the Playskool shoe with the woman pictured, but it doesn't show any dog. I believe, and have been reassured by comments here that it must be a white dog for a Playskool set. Now just to find which one.
Thanks again to everyone.
