I had an auction end on 11-5, Sent WBN on 11-5, then on 11-7, sent a nice please pay on 11-14, sent NPB Alert on 11-16. Heard nothing. On 11-18, I sent a note saying I voided the transaction, and I contacted the next highest bidder, have not heard from them yet. NOW, today, the winner(loser) finally contacted me :

I did contact you within the 10 days required. Again the email I just received said I had ten days left. So now you no longer want the money? If this is the case I to will be leaving feedback regarding this transaction.

They NEVER contacted me, and I STIll do not have a name or address.
So now they think they have 10 days, which is down to 7 days because of the NPB alert? I wrote an email already, saying...leave whatever feedback you need to...

I have 169 all pos feedback, this person has sunglassses, and 1 pos. Should I stick to my guns and tell them forget it? Or do I HAVE to wait another 7 days days because of the NPB alert? I don't even care about the neg at this point.

First, once you file the NPB, you are not REQUIRED to hold the merchandise for them. ebay's own rules on this "hope" you work it out but doesn't require it. You can tell the original buyer that it's been resold, put back up for auction, whatever & be perfectly within your rights.

Appears a neg is coming either way. I'd just tell them that the item is no longer available & get them out of your hair. They sound like long term losers anyway.

A bidder has three, count 'em, just three days after an auction closes to contact you and then complete the transaction. These are three business days, the weekend and holidays don't count. After that you are completely on your own. For practicality sake, it makes sense to allow longer just to be sure. I file an NPB on day seven, if you are selling the item to someone else, you should notify them accordingly.

It's a shame that bidders don't follow the rules and that they can get nasty, but that's eBay.
