I ran across a seller recently with some very nice jewelry. Specifically, she has (had) a bracelet I *have* to have. So I e-mailed her asking the length and what type catch was on it. Then I checked her other auctions and found a ring I really like. But no size (or measurements of any kind) were listed. So I email again (which I normally don't do).
I'm checking out all her auctions and realize that she doesn't include measurements on *any* of them. Not even ring size for rings (and some of them can't be sized) or measurements of major stones, let alone quality of stones. Nothing!!
To make a long story short, I eventually get responses to my queries. Both times it's a long (not a form) letter but they don't answer my question. She "realizes that her descriptions aren't very descriptive" but she "was in a big hurry trying to get these listed for Christmas". She doesn't "have time to get the measurements" because she has "all this mail from people" enquiring as to various pieces.
She's sold exactly one thing (out of fifty or so) in the past two weeks. Not because the items are bad but she doesn't have a clue. I suggested AW to her (to help her list more easily) but she already has a "certain way to do it". Heck lady - it's not working. Gee, here you have a person (me!!) that is begging you for info so that I can bid on your stuff but ... nothing!! I'm so frustrated - it's rare for me to find something I really want and - just my luck - it's being sold by a seller that's incompetant!!

[i]". She doesn't "have time to get the measurements" because she has "all this mail from people" enquiring as to various pieces.

And she obviously doesn't realize that she wouldn't be getting "all this mail" if she TOOk the "time to get the measurements."
Utterly clueless, I agree. I know you want those pieces, but it sounds like you're better off not dealing with this "seller".

WOW sounds some what like my frist listings a year ago when I frist started selling I had no camera scanner so no picture no Idea how to write a ad that would sell 50 emails a day per auction asking for pictures sizes shapes color what a night mare talk about a crash coarse in listing.
after the frist 5 day I closed my listing went out got a cheap scanner and camera and started from scratch also spent a week here just reading tips from people who were already selling and buying.
As much better as I have got at this somedays I get a hold of an item and im clueless how to list it

What kills me are sellers who give no description regarding the condition of used items and then yell at you to ask questions prior to bidding. The two phenomenon go hand in hand of course. Why not be above board and reveal the flaws? We all know the answer to that one.

I had a similiar experience myself with a seller.
I stumbled across an auction and I realized the entire auction (description and all) were one big giant pic ! The seller had included her description in the pic.
I tried to help by letting her know that the words in the description would not be searchable on ebay's servers because they were in the picture and not actual text.
She replied telling me this was the easiest way of listing auctions and that I should mind my own business.
Needless to say I never emailed her again, but I did bookmark her sellers list (which never has more than about 5% sales on it) just so I can have a laugh from time to time.
