I listed a game system last week and figured I would have no problems since I have sold lots of stuff on ebay and knew what I was doing. Now I am beginning to think I was over confident. I advertised I would ship internationally and and cc by exchangepath.
My first inkling I might have trouble was when I was contacted by 2 different people wanting me to end auction early before reserve was met and sell to them at a fair price. I was tempted until both finally revealed they wanted it shipped to the phillippines and would be paying by exchangepath. I wrote both back and informed them I didn't think it was fiar to end this early but they were more than welcome to bid. Neither wrote back or bid.
Now my auction has over 24 hours left and high bidder has met reserve and well exceeded
the average selling price for these systems. The high bidder just registered this week and is on aol. My husband thinks I am worrying for nothing and should just wait until auction is over and then find out if buyer is sincere. Since we are talking over $600, I am tempted to contact the high bidder and just make sure they are legit and not a deadbeat bidder. Any opinions would be appreciated. Like I said, I am obsessing over this auction big time and will be glad when it is resolved one way or the other.

Hang in there, most winning bids are placed in the last minute of an auction these days. Besides, emailing someone and asking if they are a deadbeat probably won't get you an honest answer anyway. Relax and enjoy the ride.

if you had not been contacted by the other two people you would not be obsessing about the auction. many first time bidders bid high because they get caught up in the excitement. it doesn't mean there is a problem. besides, what would a phony bidder say if you e-mailed them. "you got me!"????? just ride it out and it should be o.k.

I usually Dont worry over bids from new bidder who just registered in the same day or week but resently I have had two that look like deadbeats they bid up three times what I know items would sell for then after I sendout several eoas still I have heard nothing from them.
these were not big bids like yours but has made me question my self every new bidder I now see as I have another one today on a running auction.
