I just filed a few NPB forms, and in the reason given for the credit, I put in that both parties chose to not follow through. I then got an email from ebay with a copy sent to both of us, but they asked the bidder if its true what seller blah blah says, that both of us chose not to follow through. Is that new?? And it also states that if the bidder needs to clarify, to email safeharbor. What my problem is, YES, we both chose not to follow through BECAUSE the bidder didnt confirm and refused to contact me. When I filled out the NPB form, they finally did contact me, but by then, I already chose to relist the item(s) or contact the second highest bidder. After the bidder did contact me (after the NPB was sent them, of course), they insisted they wanted the item, but why would I want to wait even longer for more run around? So, my gripe is, what if they email safeharbor and say they wanted it item but I refused to sell it to them? Do I still get my FVF credit? I know I wont get credit for the listing fees, but thats life. However, it seems to me that now ebay is even questioning our reasons for getting a FVF. Again, is this a new feature with ebay? (I have never used the "both parties chose to not fulfill" before).
Dear #####:
Congratulations on your recent winning bid for #####. Your seller, ######, has contacted eBay. We've been told that you have decided not to purchase this item.
If this is correct, do nothing and enjoy your time on eBay. However, if this is not correct (you have purchased or intended to purchase this item), please tell us by writing to [email protected] and include "Not Correct" in the subject line of your email.

No, that email isn't new. It's a simple doublecheck to make sure that a seller doesn't file for FVF inappropriately.

Franny,
I thought that you should only use that option when there was a mutual agreement to stop the sale. If the buyer was a NPB, I thought that you had to choose that reason.

Franny ...... When you filed for the FVF, you should have chose:
"High Bidder Failed To Contact You"
If eBay questioned your claim, you could have stated you had already sold, or relisted it.
eBay doesn't expect sellers to wait 7+ days for the high bidder to make contact.
Chances are that now the high bidder will make a stink with SH that they offered to send you the funds.

Yes - what SH is looking for is an actual communucation agreeing to not finish the sale from both parties. Not just from their actions in not contacting you. That is why the non-contact is there as a seperate item.

Another important point to consider (at least to me) is that when the "mutual agreement" option is selected, the deadbeat bidder does NOT get a strike toward suspension when the FVF credit is granted. I'd much prefer that sellers choose the appropriate reason, in the case of bidders who don't respond or pay, so that we can get them off Ebay, even if it means we have to wait an additional 10 days for our FVF credit.

Thanks for the responses. I didnt see the other reasons I could have clicked, but they wouldnt have related anyway. When the person finally DID contact me after I filed the NPB, she stated she didnt want to do business with me anymore because I had "an attitude" for filing the NPB, and I said I didnt want to do business with HER anymore because she didnt contact me until I had to file the NPB. To me, that was mutual agreement that neither of us wanted to deal with the other. But now I know to look for the other "reasons" to fit the situation. Thanks again for the explanation
