I bought a tureen on e-bay and it was shipped UPS. It arrived broken in 4 pieces. It appeared to have been dropped on one side.

I e-mailed the seller who told me to contact UPS. I know from past experience the seller initiates the claim. The seller faxed the form. With shipping the item cost about $97.00.

Well as of today, no payment. It has been 3 weeks and every week or so, I have requested an update from the seller. She says the ball is in motion.

There was no tracking number on the box or shipping label. I have kept the broken item in the original box as UPS claims to have to inspect it. No one from UPS has been by my business to inspect it.

How long does it take? I am getting frustrated. Lauren

We have a UPS Account with a daily pick up - when there is breakage, the sender has to initiate the claim. Then normally, within a day or two they call the buyer for package inspection - occassionally if the package cost less than $50 they automatically refund, but even that usually take a month. UPS is VERY slow - but so is the USPS if it is over $50.

At our post office if it is $50 or under they pay immediately at the counter.

You have the tracking number, call UPS's 800 number and check on the claim progress yourself and see if it has been filed.

Even if you don't have the tracking number, UPS can usually locate it with your address and the shippers address.

I don't have the tracking number. There was not one on the box or label.

No one has called me from UPS tp inspect it. I have had other packages delivered by UPS since and have showed the drivers the damage but they just tell me to hold onto it until someone from UPS comes by to inspect it.

In my business,(I am a Florist) I do not use UPS because of too many broken items. We would get in vases from my suppliers and about 1/4 of them would be broken. I always use USPS to ship. Lauren

Auctionee, I think I will check on that. The seller has been nice but seems in no hurry to resolve this.
If I were the seller I would be more agressive about pursuing it. Lauren

Payment usually goes to the shipper and it can take up to 30 days.

Was there a bar code label on the package?
There had to be some type of tracking number on the package.

The package is at my shop. When I arrive Monday morning, I will check for a barcode. I do not recall seeing one. Lauren
