On Monday I mailed a package of jewelry belonging to one of my customers (not Ebay) and registered it for $25,000. I sent it priority along with two other priority boxes that were not registered. Apparantly I put the WRONG address on all three packages. The two that are not registered (and of course contain nothing of value) arrived at his home today, however, the registered package is still out there somewhere...I immediately called to PO. I did find that the address that I sent the package to doesn't exist so there is no chance that someone may sign for it. The postal person I spoke to told me there is no way that it can be traced while in route and to be patient....(she said that it will eventually come back to me if not deliverable) OK, how long do I wait before calling again? Priority packages always take one day between these two cities....Any help is appreciated.

I don't have anything concrete to offer, but I think (feel) that the odds of the package being returned to you are 99.9% plus. Try to be calm.
Do you have a $25,000 lesson coming?
No.
You'll get it back, or it will get where it is supposed to go.
Faith.

Registered mail takes longer to go through the system then unregistered because it has to be accounted for at every handling point....if they delivered the two wrongly addressed items to the right person---the postman may deliver the other one also.

I recently shipped an expensive item to the exact address written in an Email...except, the address was incorrect...
It took 3 working days for package to come back to me, which was very fast; I resent it, again with Return Receipt, and they received it 2 days later. So, take heart. Aas long as it is "Undeliverable", you should be OK.
******************** Gosh Shosh!

Be patient and have faith. Easy for me to say, that is why I'm never trusted with more than $1.25 at any given moment.

Thanks all. I will take a chill-pill and wait. Fortunately my customer is not as rattled as I (he owns the merch, I was merely appraising it)
There will be an addendum to my prayers before I go to bed tonight...

It's going to be fine.
There may be a bus bearing down, but your name is not on it.
I predict resolution and relief very soon.

I was told at the PO that priority goes through a special system. Sometimes that system actually works against you. If there is a problem, it takes much longer for priority to be corrected than regular mail. I recently shipped out a package and was told if I sent it regular it would arrive Monday, if I sent it priority it would arrive Wednesday. So far in two years I have just had my first priority package disappear out of hundreds. It was going to a foreign air force base, so I am still hoping it will show up eventually.
