I have five 5"x1" mortise double door cabinet/small door locks by the Norwalk Lock Company. They have brass 5x1 plates, brass knob on one side and brass handle on other, and a cast iron lock case with brass parts. I have the 2-piece strike plates for the inactive door leaf. I don't have the skeleton key. I salvaged them from softwood cabinet doors from a house in the Pasadena area. I have an image but don't know how to post it. Any help with this is apprciated. Any ideas on the Ebay value or reserve, or how much to expect as a fair offer from a hardware dealer? Thanks

I'd really like to see what they look like. Hope someone out there can help you with your picture!

The site you showed me was just Latin to me! It's a big mystery to me where my file resides if I try to post a picture.

What would a dealer offer if you said to them "they're in my pocket, I can't put them on the counter for you to look at, but what are they worth?

Well, sight unseen, I'd offer you $.01 for the lot. How the hell do you expect anyone to give advice when you can't show the stuff? You might have run of the mill Victorian plated crap, or cast bronze Mission style stuff. But until you get off your duff and learn how to do the picture thing, or manage to send us working ESP, you will never know.

What you've done is the same as if you called up your local antique shop and asked the same question. They'd insist on seeing the item first. Aren't you using pix in your auctions?>

No??

Sigh. Okay.

Go go geocities.yahoo.com and click on "Build Your Web Site". Click on "Sign Me Up." Use "upload and FTP" to upload your pix. When you've uploaded them, click on "View" to see your pic. When the pic shows up, go up to the "address" bar, highlight the entire address (which'll look something like http://www.geocities.com/saraandmike/hardware.jpg). Cut and paste that into your next message here.

Ah, yes. It must be Skewer the Newbie Day.

Saraandmike: My *opinion* from your *description* is: Norwalk is common and the locks are unremarkable. Unless you find a buyer who is doing a restoration and really needs five similar locks you will not get more than a few dollars for each.

Thanks to everyone, even those who "skewered the newbie"!. I know know to use my website and that the locks probably aren't worth much trouble.
