I sell my artwork on ebay, and recently I've been putting up some of my husband's sculptures (he sculpts these classic monster heads for fun as he's studying special FX makeup & mask-making).

Anyway, the sculptures are selling for 14.99, and each one is hand casted and handpainted; signed & numbered. I just received an email from someone that looked at one of these auctions and wrote the following to us:

"Who's gonna sign these? The 4 year old that sculpted them?? heheheh These
are HORRIBLE.......do yourself a favor and sell them at flea markets and
stop taking up space on ebay"

Thankfully I got the email before my husband saw it, but I just had to vent because I thought it was a very cruel thing to do. If you don't like something, move on. Besides, my husband is an excellent sculpture in his genre

Sorry, but I just had to vent...people can be such !*&$% (censored myself)...

Just ignore it. It's pretty rude and not worth the reply.

The computer, and email in particular allow you to say and do things Today that most people would NOT do or even consider in person, or Face-to-Face. Can't say I am completely Blameless of this myself, but at least I am aware of it,and try to restrain myself before I hit "Send".Trust me this person would Cower like a frightened kitten if you confronted him/her in person.

It's certainly not something I'm in to, but after looking at your auction, I'd say your husband does a heck of a good job!

Thank you for the kind words

They definitely are a niche market thing (at home I make him keep all of his heads (life-size ones too) in his work room.

We only put them up because several friends wanted them & suggested it. I guess life is too short to ponder negative people--gosh, I think it hurt my feelings more than it might have hurt his 'cause I care

WOW!!!!! I really need a couple of these for Christmas presents!

But can you believe, I have nearly 400 positives on eBay, and have never bid on anything, much less used Billpoint...or Buy it now?

Let me do some checking.

Don't sweat it. Just some kid who snuck on daddy's computer after school.

Although art, of any form in the visual, does not appeal to me that much, I must say that your hubby's works are not bad. If monster heads were my thing (*snicker*), I would most likely buy some.

To bad they don't exactly make the best gifts 0_o. Oh, and I was curious why your pictures are in black-and-white. Even if the works are only one color, vibrant colors in the background are a turn-on to bidders. Since the American public (you don't take internation) as been dumbed down to the point of "Me likey lights. Lights are good. Colors are good. Yes", not having color photos might turn away some bidders. Hey, I don't know, there are some weird people out there.

I hope you don't think any of the negative terms were directed at you, because they weren't 0_o

[edit] Just looking at your website, those animal "pawcloths" are so cute!! [/edit]

No I didn't take your comments negatively, I do agree the pics need to be re-done. The sculptures are shades of gray & black (stone looking), I had to black & white the photo because the camera picked up all of these weird colored fibers in the background. Will put new pics up tomorrow or saturday.

Again, thanks for all the support, I feel all goooood inside again

Bluee said it better than I ever could.

I'm kinda surprised, labelle, that you'd let this sort of thing upset you. No matter what you make and how good it is, somebody's bound to say "piecea junk" just for his own entertainment. Toughen up, girl. Bigger things to worry about.

Nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to folks being rude! I truly believe it is this time of year. Whatever happened to good cheer?

I think your husband does great work and I don't blame you for getting upset. It must have felt like a personal attack and you wanted to protect your husband from being hurt. Just remember that for every cruel person, there is a much nicer one who is there to appreciate your husband's good work. Good cheer and all

O.K., I've "toughened up" and this a.m. I'm feeling better and have decided not to respond to this cretinous fool

I guess I am just being over-protective, I've spent a long time trying to get my husband to believe in himself and "follow his fancy" to find some happiness--the insult felt like I was kicked in the stomach

Anyway, coincidentally we received a couple of inquiries on some upcoming sculpture releases which felt good, AND I was more than happy to relay this to hubster. (and thanks for the kudos on my Pawcloths Bluee).

Onward & Upward!

Perhaps Mac could be rented out, maybe an auction up for your "special kind of justice?"(charge more for both kneecaps tho

Shosh, kids love the masks, my husband teaches at a special behavioral needs school and it's always a big hoo-ha with the kids when he brings his heads, masks & sculptures in. FYI if you have a minute, here is a link to his website which shows the special fx masks and heads he's done with all the makeup & such (and no, they're not for sale for all you guys who come running with your wallets open !!)
