I got one on Sunday also. Maybe they are trying to prevent a holiday backlog. Though for 3 day delivery, mine should've been delivered Saturday.

Blonestranger... you are mistaken. Priority has not always delivered 7 days a week. You're thinking of Express. That delivers every day including holidays.

Last year at Christmas time I recieved Priority mail on Sunday also. Probably just a holiday time thing.

What I meant was that Blondestranger is generalizing and saying Priority always delivers on Sunday. I got a few things during the holidays last year but that is not normal. Take it from a person who gets about 20 Priority items a week. None of them on Sunday (except last holiday season)

It's a rather well-publicized (TV) Christmas Priority policy. They'll even deliver Christmas day.

During December they go to 7-day a week delivery of Priority in many places to cope with the seasonal surge.

They aren't doing first class letters and such on sunday, just priority/express mail.

I got a Priority package on Christmas Day last year. Needless to say, I was quite surprised.

Then you have my case where the buyer sent me an Express to deliver by Saturday at noon. They did not show until 3 - we were out - they left a note. PO said they would be back on Sunday - never showed - we stayed home all day. Monday - here it is 2 and still no delivery.
I called the local PO and they said well, some Express carriers feel if you are not home on Saturday you will not be on Monday - they are already late so buyer gets refund so why waist a trip on Sunday!! Amazing. As to where they are today - they supposedly will be here by 3.
We'll see - In the meantime my poor buyer waiting for his playstation for his child for xmas pays $12 bucks to get next day and it is 3rd day and still not here.arghhhhhhh!!!
hmmm.. debating what method to use to send back out

The past two Christmas season's we had Priority Deliveries on Sunday...It was such a treat to see the mailman on Sunday (yeah, I KNOW I need a life!)
boysmommy3...a month ago, my favorite postal clerk had to overnight a check to his son...Dressed in his postal uniform, he crossed the parking lot to the quick-ship store & had them ship it FedEX for him!...When I ask him about it, he responded "when it MUST be there overnight, use FedEX!"....

Well, the check just arrived (3:30)so all is well. I felt sorry for the carrier - he said he is averaging 13-14 hour days and will through the Holidays. Every 6 weeks he gets 2 days off in a row!!
He did agree that on second tries they do not come out on Sundays. Oh well - so much for staying home all day

I thought only Express Mail normally got delivered on Sunday (not counting the holiday catchup the post office apparently is starting early this year, by delivering priority mail seven days a week).
But I well remember the Good Old Days when we got two full mail deliveries every day except Sunday, during the holidays. I once got a special delivery letter from a boyfriend at about 10:00 PM on a weekend night!
Back to reality...I'm glad to hear that they ARE delivering priority mail on Sunday to help with the holiday rush. And I'm glad I've made friends with Postman Rick, who delivers my mail all the time. In a business like this, you can't have too many friends at the P.O.!
BTW, is anybody planning on dropping off a load of cookies or See's Candy to the window workers? I assume this is acceptable, and I sure feel that they deserve it. (Can you tell I really like those folks?)
