Programming to create images, or to bold one's message print on this AW Message Board isn't done with HTML, but what?

Not only WHAT, but where can one find infomation on how to use this system similar to html???????

It's called UBB code. I brought an old thread up that explains much of the code. The thread is called "Newbie, I want to...".
