My husband and I are thinking of buying a simple digicam for our kids to use. I have an HPC30 that I use for my auctions. It is not a great camera, but with some add on lenses we bought, and a tripod, I get very good pictures with it.
I am hoping to find something in the neighborhood of $130-$160 for the kids to use. Since we already have a compact flash card reader, one that uses the same type of memory would be nice. USB would be ok too, but serial connection would work just as well.
My kids are all teens or older, and go to church activities and camps etc. where they sometimes want to take my digicam. We usually don't let them due to the value of the camera...to replace it would be at least $600 for what I would want.
Those of use using the less expensive models...lets hear it. Which ones are ok, which ones are not so great.

Agfa has a 1.3 megapixel camera that uses compact flash and has USB and also doubles as a web cam, all for $160. You can email me for more details.

We have the Polariod PDC 640. I think we paid almost $200 for it, but I just saw it in the new Wal-Mart flyer for around $150.
