Well I hope all of you are having a sucess with Exchange Path because I am going to drop Paypal from all of my Auctions. I just went to paypal to change my credit card since I can't find my other one and cancelled it. Well I gave them the one from my bank and after putting it in three times (perfectly good credit card mind you) the rejected it for the verification number that 3 digit number at the end of your cc number on the back of your card. After 3 times they said you can no longer use this card. Called paypal. They said they may be able to fix it in 2-3 days but not sure. I have to talk (I must call) their finance company they have another company who runs their card verification and they have had this problem before may be it is my bank that doesn't like internet blah blah blah. So I call my bank and guess what they say there is nothing wrong with my card being used and they specifically have had numerous calls from customers having problems with paypal not excepting credit cards and the verification number being the problem. Now I can't pay anyone mind you now unless a buyer pays me and puts money in my account to pay them with. What a bunch of bull if they have had the problem before WHY don't they forget the damn verification numbers? No one else asks for them??? The guy at paypal said they have had to pay thousands in frauds with credit cards. Now I am a customer who has been with them since the very begining am I a crook?? I asked the guy when he said he would notify the correct department at paypal would someone get back to me??? No he said is would be more proactive for me to call back and ask for the finance department. Frustrated?? You bet! Please let me know if you use Exchange Path and like it because up till now I have had no problems with Paypal but now my hands are spread out wide from my sides and saying left side paypal - not free - wont let me pay anyone and my right hand is lowering down like the side of a scale saying Exchange Path - free.

Your problem with the 3 digits on the back of your card this is for users adding a debit card instead of credit card make sure you select to add your credit card number and not your debit card number as debit cards and not credit cards have this 3 digit number for security reasons

I signed up for exchange path back in august Still no useing this option and I am here loads of people talking about frozzen accounts with exchangpath.

Exchange path doesn't send a credit cards users billing address so you can reasonablly know if the person might be useing a stolen credit card makeing fraud more likely on accounts.

I was going to take advantage of the free listing day AW is offering for signing up with exchange path but since I am seeing and hearing more complaints and storys of frozen accounts in the last few week about exchangepath then I have about paypal in over a year I am doubtfull I will continue offering exchangepath get out before someone uses it and the trouble starts.

I am sticking with paypal as a payment service They are going through many changes and this can be a pian but as far as I can see it BillPoint and paypal seem to be the most reliable of the services out there.

My debit card is a visa. And you need a verifcation number for either. I tried it both ways and the guy at paypal told me that they both need it. Why were the Exchange Path accounts frozen?

Don't waste your time with ExchangePath.
My account was one of the ones "suspended" today. It's functioning again after I e-mailed them and told them I'd initiate a chargeback of the credit card funds I used to fund the account.

Go with Billpoint.
(1.) It gives you much more control over who uses it to pay you than any other payment service.
(2.) If a payment is suspicious or if a buyer initiates a chargeback for some reason, Billpoint does NOT freeze your entire account.
(3.) It's the only service whose users don't have myriad nightmare stories to tell.

(4.) It doesn't treat its paying customers like criminals or send insulting, degrading e-mails to perfectly honest sellers. I can't say the same for PayPal OR ExchangePath.

These other services are being hit hard by fraud. An ExchangePath technical employee admitted it when I called customer service to find out why in blazes my account was suspended. (CS reps were in a big meeting and left the techie to answer the phones.)

Fraud prevention is the one aspect of business these services did not think through before opening their virtual doors.

Fraud is what's going to put them out of business.

By the way I am sure paypal is finding many problems out with this new type of third party online credit card business.

Frist lesson they are learning is once you start these high volume credit card charges like they do you find people who use credit card charge back the fees to merchants on these charge back are high to start with but the more change backs the high fee they are charged they could easily reach half a million in fees for charge back fees if there are enough users and last I read they had up to $6 million in credit card transactions weekly.

Second problem they found is you cant offer this service to high volume auction sellers indefinatlly for free and make money inless the users leave the money in the account and useing like they would there saveings or checking account.

next problem they have found is credit card fraud people want instan transactions they get lots of credit card fraud because they have so many payments passing through they cant catch the bad cards fast enough.

Another problem they are finding is because they are dealing with person to person transactions. buyers who dont receive there items as quickly as they think they should and buyer who didnt pay for the PO insurance getting damaged Items all complaining to paypal about this asking them to return there payments bring these Problem to paypal is treating them more like an escrow service then a credit card merchant this type of thing cost them big $$$ for extra customer service help, buyers want paypal to protrect them many times this leads to big $$ right out of paypals pocket if buyers dont leave $$ in there accounts and the seller seemingly vanishes not to be found.

There are many many otther problem I am sure paypal is discovering after a year at this now problems that wil eat then alive if they cant charge for use of this service to put more money into it.

ExchangePath basically changed the rules without telling its members first.
It now requires more information that it did at the time many of us signed up. An upgrade in software resulted in suspension of all of the accounts that did not contain all of the newly-required information. Cute, huh?
These services are run by idiots who have no clue about customer relations.

Here's the e-mail ExchangePath sent when I ASKED them why my account was suspended:

Dear Member:

As part of our normal account audit and review process, we have reason to believe that your account has been associated with enrollment or transaction activity that constitutes a violation of our Member Agreement.

This activity could include:
- Missing enrollment information, such as credit card information and billing address, that is now required in order to maintain an ExchangePath account.
- Residency outside of the US or use of a non-US email service provider or Internet Service Provider.

Therefore, for the protection of ExchangePath and our members, we have suspended your account.

If you would like to maintain an account with ExchangePath, please re-enroll with the appropriate information. Or, if you feel your account has been suspended in error, please contact us by "replying" to this email.

Thank you.

ExchangePath Risk Management

I sent customer service an extremely curt e-mail and my account was unlocked in short order.
I've since emptied it and sent another e-mail to CS asking how to close it.

Hey the guy over at paypal Was Candid! He said that credit card fraud is a major problem that is why they have that company doing their verification. I'd bet if a lot of old customers were to try to put in another credit card or if they try to update theirs they will have a whole lot of mad paypal customers. Too weird that my one little bank has had calls from their customers already with the same problem. In the begining they were probably processing the cards like everyone else. It's a shame though to put a customer who has been with them through the begining with a good volume of business through this and tell them that card can't be used anymore. Thanks for the replys I really needed to vent.

You know I just signed up with exchange path the other day and I thought in the past I had tried before and they asked for my ss# so I stopped the registration (could have been another site) but did they ever ask for that? One payment service site did ask for it so I didn't sign up for it but I can't remember which one it was. This time I signed up for Exchange path it was required.

Dman, once again, you are right on the money.
The facts are, anytime you do business with any company anywhere, regardless of who they are, you run the risk of something going wrong. This is why they have people hired to answer the phone and take the abuse. They are called customer service reps.
Whether you do business with Paypal, Paydirect, Exchangepath, Billpoint or anyone else, you run the risk of a chargeback. Every time you take a check, you run the risk of it bouncing. Money orders can be fraudulent and bounce so high you can't see it anymore. The truth is, the world of business is like a swamp full of aligators. If everytime you run into one you run, you will soon run out of places to run to...then what?

In fact I just added a new Card number to paypal saturday to make an auction payment because my x.com debit card was no longer any good to use and I added the card number in about 30 seconds with no trouble at all I made the payment to the buyer right after I added the number they got the payment I had my Item This after noon.

I do have to agree if you only have one choice you can make to take credit card payments Bill Point is the way to go this is the smoothest service I have used ever and they tranfer your money directly to your checking account they do not try to play banker at all.
