Have not tried the BIN in my auctions, with christmas getting closer every day, was thinking now may be a good time to try it.
How is it working for you that have used it?
Has it helped to increase sales any? Any problems with people using it and then going deadbeat on you, which then would tie the item up and by the time to relist too late for christmas? Looking for some pros and cons here to help make my decision? Have tried to search for auctions with BIN option and does not look like that may are using it, so I can't decide if that is a good sign or bad. Thanks, everyone.

Pro: Ends auctions quickly and you get paid faster.
Con: You are likely to underestimate the value of the item and would likely get more without Buy It Now..

I've been using it on my Christmas Auctions, it works pretty well but do a little research before setting your BIN Price, I shot myself in the foot with a pair of Toy Story 2 Beanies, I asked $20, they(woody and Bullseye) are going for $15 each.
On the other hand I got them for less than $1 each so it wasn't too bad.
My ebay record so far is a 7 hour long auction.
My Yahoo record is 1 hour 45 minutes

I've been using BIN on a lot of my auctions since it started, it seems to be working pretty well for me. OTOH, I sell mostly what I make & have exprimented quite a bit, so I know my my auctions won't go higher than 2 bids or so. Don't know how it's working with collectibles or antiques, it definitely would carry more of a risk.

I just tried BIN. My auction ended only 2 hours after I started it. WOW!
Surprised the heck out of me.

I tried it for the first time yesterday on an item I relisted after a long dragged out situation with a NPBer. This is a very large heavy item that I had saved to sell for Christmas. Sold it today with BIN for $5 more than the NPBer had won it for last month. I've been paid and it's on its way to UPS tomorrow after hogging up my garage space. I can't see myself using BIN on some of my wild and crazy items--I enjoy the "ride" too much on those--but if they keep it free for a while, I'll use it on things where values are more or less established.

I have been using BIN on relists and items which have a couple of other listings on ebay. So far I have been quite happy with it as ALL of my relists have sold. In my experience it helps spur early bidding to make the BIN go away.
Have fun!

I hate it/I love it.
I think it has pros & cons. The cons are that bidders are getting sick of wasting time opening auction pages up only to find the item is sold. Some users don't have endless hours to shop on eBay, and that's why a lot of users have gone to the GGG listings in the past year. eBay has become such a colossal site that most bidders have to either choose checking out the "New" listings each day, or the GGG listings.
The pros are that it allows someone who knows the value of an item to unload it fast. Also, some buyers don't like fighting it out with last second bidders & this allows them to get in fast & make a scoop before an "auction" even starts.
I think it also encourages the "Watchers" to either sheet or get off the pot. [as my grand pappy used to say ]
They are forced to bid & knock the BIN over, or "Buy It Now".
I would never use it for uncommon items, or items that that I didn't know the eBay market for.
If it encourages more bidders to browse & buy on eBay then I'm all for it.
It should be interesting to see how many sellers still use it as an option after the Xmas season, and/or if eBay starts to charge $$ for it.

what is ggg listings?
I just started using bin today and have had 2 close. I like the option. For the most part bidders have been sitting back and waiting until the last 5 or 10 minutes to place a bid on an auction. Now bidders will have to bid early if they want to keep the auction open. The BIN option is only when no bids have been placed.

It is fantastic. I have had excellent results with it! Now that I have used it to buy an item, I hate it that not all auctions have them. However, they need to make the auctions go off the search engine once the stuff is sold. Also, remember, IT IS ONLY FREE NOW, they are going to get us all attached and then start charging extra, which will make it tough for us on the cheaper items!

BIN is obviously not an auction since no bidding takes place. I wish eBay would have the BIN listings separate from the regular auctions since many people do not like opening up a listing only to find the item is already spoken for by a BIN buyer. eBay is an auction site and BIN is definitely a different animal. I hate BIN!!

I agree! It foils the Watch program!
Regarding BIN I love it has I have little patience with drug out auctions. To me it is in - out - done - paid - shipped, and on to something else. It fast and clean.

I have an item up for sale now, 10 day auction. I was pretty sure from the number of hits that at least a few were probably watching it till the last minute. 3 days to go I put BIN on it. Got my first bid about an hour later. I like that someone has to bid early to get rid of BIN.

Deadsville in my niche over last weekend, so I listed a handful of items as BIN. Sold 'em in a couple hours - this in a category where about 50% of auctions were then ending with NO BIDS at all (which is very unusual).

I like the BIN option, both as a buyer and a seller.
My only complaint (which is as a buyer) is that I wish they would remove it from searches once it closes. I was looking for something specific and the first six auctions had all closed due to BIN. It gets aggravating. Once it's closed, move it to 'completed auctions' so I don't have to see it over and over.

Okay...here is a pro:
Just grabbed an item that the usual bidder goes nuclear on her proxy and kicks all booty who comes by to bid on it.
I got if for about 10 percent lower than her mid-high range. She can go low triple digit, which is rare in this catagory.
Maybe she was thinking about it...maybe on vacation, but I have a happy relative who will delight in the final product of the sellers talent. Whoo hooo hooo!!!
