Whew...all of those diverse questions and negativity out there on the message board!
I dropped in to start something weird.Yep,downright straaaange.Thought I'd dust the shill off, forget about the deadbeats, paypals, auxpals, and lack of bids in my online world and tell you all the things I'm thankful for this year.
I'm sure the naysayers,"sky is falling" and nattering naybombs of negativity will try to rain on my parade, but I say "Bah HUMBUG!"
I'm incredibly lucky to have such a great resource to save me the skinned knees (Auctionwatch) of selling,a healthy(fingers crossed) family,a job(that pays me to get better at what I love to do) and for selling stuff online.
I'm constantly amazed at the world I reach from a basement in the Midwest.Oh sure,I run across the occasional yellow snow, but I learn and drive on.The electronic garage sale where crazy bidders emerge from faraway places to give me (sometimes crazy amounts)money for the most inane and common items. As Glen Campbell once sang "Cards and letters(pre email) from people I don't even know!"
As I sit here typing tonight,I give true and heartfelt thanks to the Auctionwatch community,(proof that you can learn so much more from listening,or in this case, lurking)
health, and this thing we call life.(lyrics:Prince)
You can pick your deity, religion, happenstance, fate or dumb luck here, but for these things, and sooo many more,I am thankful.
C'mon people-your two centavos are welcome.Start typing....

~thankful for Bravo channel and Turner Classic Movies (especially those great old trailers and unusual occupations clips), and the History channel.
~for old friends that seem to just show up or call out of the blue, on just the right day
~for mental health and sanity
~for the occassional kind postal worker
~for a great find at a moving sale
~for a surprising big sale on ebay from a stupid piece of worthless plastic
~and thankful for the people in my life that still have a sense of humor

I give thanks that my family and I have been able to get through the last couple of years of 'things' happening from our home burning down to throwing a rod through the oil pan of our Jeep.
- my family putting up with all those little shreds of newspaper I drag all over the floor.
- my health so that I am able to drag all those shreds, or is it chads?
- my ability to get through two years of daily sexual harassment from my boss. (My advice on this is when it happens: say it now and say it loud!
- all the wonderful people I have met through on-line auctions. They far outweigh any of the others.
- great postal people. They save boxes and bubble wrap for me and give me great service.
- the advice and assistance from the many people on this board.
- for being fiesty and witty
- for being alive!
I get so embroiled in the things that happen in life, I sometimes forget to sit down and think about how thankful I should be

I have something in particular I'm thankful for tonight.
Many many months ago here on Auction Watch I met a number of people. Amazing, caring, passionate people. People I would have never met otherwise. Through posts here on AW we became friends and have since worked on a number of projects together. I just returned from a trip where I got to meet a number of these people in person.
What an absolutely incredible experience to meet face to face with someone you feel like you know but in reality you've never met.
And then you discover ... the people behind these posts are real.
Incredibly vibrantly exuberantly REAL. And it's sooo cool, and it's sooo exciting you can't believe that it IS for real.
I look back and realize I've learned so much from AW posters since my first post here. Some good, some bad, but most always constructive. Real life lessons which have challenged me. In the process I've grown, both intellectually and emotionally.
Anyway, I just wanted to take this chance to say thanks Mark, thanks AW.

To make amends for my earlier glibness and because I'm feeling kind of Christmas cheery, I thought I'd bring this very nice topic back to the top.
