Sorry, but as much as I love dogs, I'm beginning to really hate German Shepherds, & the little rats that chase them back & forth.

P.S. I hate that crap on auctions as well.

hint-hint

You've got my vote. Where do I sign on?

edited to add...

I just wanted to clarify my position a little. I don't think the animations are inherently evil or anything like that, but when I come to AW, it is to read opinions regarding online auctions, not to see the latest graphic gimmick, and the animated ones are particularly distracting when I am trying to read.

There is another message board which I have read occasionally (starts with "O", ends with "A" and has a "T" and "W" in it), but I don't spend much time there. The sig-files of the posters are often 2 or 3 times the length of the posts. After reading them the first couple of dozen times, you get the point, and it tends to be a bit tedious trying to sift through the signatures to get to posts on the actual topics.

Ok- that's it. Carry on.

I run Windows 98 IE. If I hit the escape button on a page with animation it stops the animation.

Someone told me that here when they had the monkey at the top of the page.

Happy Holidays to All!

You can get a dogcatcher to take care of them on your pc. Look for AtGuard and they will be gone.

I think people who use those smiley face graphics are insipid losers.

Yes, make them go away! (Smilies, too. I hated 'em in the 70s and they haven't aged well at all.)

Wow, Pocono! I don't think I've ever seen you post in such a succinct, yet eloquent manner! And the paragraph in the middle of the post-I'd swear I saw influences of Faulkner and Wodehouse there.

*sigh* I'll never come close to such perfect prose...

(sorry. It seemed to be necessary to insert at least a winking smiley)

and I wonder if people that endlessly use the smiley faces also wear sweatshirts with pictures on them, baseball caps with silly sayings and things adhered to them, rings on every finger, 6 pairs of earrings on each lobe, as well as optional tatoos, ankle bracelets, fingernail jewelry and underware with the days of the week printed on them, and I can't forget the necklace with their name on it, and they probably spend lots of money on ebay buying more stuff to hang on their rear view mirror, or attach to their already-loaded-down key chains...

I say we round up these animated gif people and teach'em a lesson they won't soon forget.

Wait right here, I'll go get the torches.

Hummm just one more step into socialism, trying to cram everyone into one little box. I for one enjoy the gifs AND I use those stupid little smilies.

Perhaps some of us are getting a little grouchy watching that spoiled brat on the television the last month.
