Ebay finally got around to me. Ironic, considering the jabs that fountainhouse and I were exhanging just a week or two ago on this subject. I'll pass on this glorious opportunity.

I've been doing fine without being a Powerseller. The bidders don't pass on my auctions for lack of The Logo.

It's no honor to be invited to join considering almost everyone qualifies.

I respect you much more for turning it down then attaining it.

Congrats on being a great seller loose.

I hope you turn them down again when you reach the GOLD level

Congratulations, I have been one since they started the program, I have never used the logo or advertised the fact and don't intend to, don't need to, however I did join when they sent the initial offering and one of the only benefits that I can tell you about is the power sellers support, I always address any problems/concerns to [email protected] and I get a very prompt response and they do try to resolve any issues I have

They should help ALL paying members, not just the ones who pay more in fees.

I don't qualify as a power seller. I think that consistently selling in that amount is admirable. I hope to someday be able to attain that status, although I would shun the icon attention, as I would like to stay low key.

I don't see that you have anything to loose by joining. Just don't tell anyone, and neither will we.

Dan,

it just takes selling a minimum of 2000.00 per month to be a Bronze Powerseller. Of course if you're just selling part time, you'd find it harder to do that amount.

Some might even consider me a part time seller since I don't list about a million auctions.

I only average around 90 auctions a month. My best month ever was 83 auctions that brought over 9K. How in the heck did I do that? Haven't done it since, that's for sure.

kathyg, after what I was spoutin' off about last week, I couldn't join even if I wanted to (and I don't want to).

I don't use the banner either. I used to think that it would earn people's trust (the newbies) but after hearing what everyone here thinks I decided not to use it...

Raglady ........ I don't think you're supposed to share the secret PS email addy. Shhhhhh. LOL

Pocono ..... Seriously, why would anyone at the Gold level, turn them down down?
What, there's sellers that don't want a phone number where they can reach an eBay rep 24/7 ?

How do you know?

Of course, if you did have the logo, I would ask how you know that it attracts bidders.

My guess is that it doesn't make much of a difference. But that's only a guess. If anyone has any actual data, I would really like to see it.

How do I know?

Just guessing of course. But my stuff sells OK. I'm just going by that.

That's the beauty of it. Play them for what you can get from them, like possibly some actual support. What else would change? You can still say whatever you want.

I average about 1500 a month and I'm pretty new (159 feedback). I seem to attract a lot of new or zero feedback buyers. I don't mind because the newbies seem to bid high and maybe feel comfortable buying from a newbie seller. I never ask for feedback from buyers, and the feedback I do get is usually glowing. The feedback I don't get, well, maybe it's good I didn't get it.

To tell the truth, I can't remember actually needing their support before. I have emailed to gripe about outages and retaliatory negs, but that's about it.

Oh yeah, and to report someone shilling their auctions. Needless to say, eBay did nothing at all. Couldn't see, or wouldn't see that there was anything going on.

But that's a different subject...

The support is better. You get responses within 24 hours, often faster. I try to jazz up the logo, but I don't usually use it. I was using the smaller size before eBay even dreamed it up.

Gee Twin, don't let the PS Police catch ya doing that, eBay has strict rules as to the PS logo.

twinsoft,

I like what you have done to the power seller logo.

No offense to those here that are Power Sellers, but my experience has been that they use this "token" name to get their competitors auctions shut down under false pretenses, and get away with breaking rules that get other "less important" NON PS's auctions ended, or their memberships NARU'd.

They are in the same catagory as the VeROs in my book.

I have seen this happen over, and over, and over again.

Steve:

I like the little logo thing too.

It looks like Babar is taking a dump, and excreting the PS logo...LMAO

Pocono .... Now, now. You have to remember, some of us that don't sell in the "cutting edge" technology categories don't give a rat's behind what other sellers are doing, or not. Geesh, if PS were really that bad, one of us would have reported Twin for his posting that logo here. wink-wink

Good for you, loosecannon. Regardless of your intention to sign up, merely qualifying for PS status represents a lot of hard work. I thought you said previously you had qualified long ago?

In any event, as raglady opined, the one actual benefit of membership is the ability to receive timely service responses (written by a human being, BTW).

Any other preferential treatment is purely imaginary.

Loosecannon....Congrats on your acheivement!...regardless of what you do with the status, it's still a major accomplishment and should be reconized as such.....

Tis a shame that Power Seller's have gotten a tarished reputation, as I would venture to guess that the very same things they are accused of doing are done by lots of other sellers, it's just that they can be "grouped" easier...Same for high feedbackers, some of US still offer personal service, timely responses/shipping, etc, but (judging from postings at this forum) are getting a bad rap too!....

I think as a New Year's resolution, I will continue to judge sellers on their own merits, and NOT clump them into groups....Heck, it's ALOT easier than tryin' to quit smokin'!!!

Let me rephrase that. What I meant was that I felt I always qualified, by my own estimation anyway. This is the first time they've ever asked.

And thank you to all.
