An experience I just had as a buyer has reinforced my thoughts that as a seller, all of the details do add up.
I decided to purchase a back issue of an old Life magazine featuring a movie star my son-in-law is a big fan of. Currently running on e-bay (closing within the next couple of days) were two auctions for the same magazine.
I searched through them both and bid with the one that (a) had a good photo, (b) had a good feedback record and (c) took PayPal (so I could get the magazine before Christmas.) I lost out to a sniper who was willing to pay $16.50.
I was now left with the second seller who (a) did not have a photo (b) had a feedback of 1000+ but 24 negatives and (c) didn't take PayPal but said they shipped quickly. I crossed my fingers and won the bid for $8, but guess what? It's been 3 days now and the seller still hasn't contacted me (I've written him twice, though.) Time is running out to get this gift in time for Christmas. Lesson 1 learned--I'm getting what I paid for....
And lesson 2--the seller got half the price of what the other guy did--for the same item.
Next time when I'm selling something, I'm tired and seriously questioning--why take 3 photos? Why hassle with PayPal? Why stay up late at night to ship next day? Does anybody really read the feedback?--I'll remember this lesson and put in the extra effort.

joycel> You are so correct! I am finding that I am spending alot more hours on my Ebay then I ever did on a job outside of the house, and there are times, when 3 in the morning roll around and I literally *wobble* up te stairs to get to bed, I wonder if it is all worth it, but yes, the extra effort is! In saing that thogh, many times a bidder will get a product from me at a much lower price then a competitor, but they still get fantastic service from me, if I do say so myself!

I agree joycel. Although not in all cases, in general what you see is what you get. You can make a general judgement on the seller is going to be like just from their ad. What they present is a reflection of themselves.
