Another thread prompted me to post this. I have had no ill luck whatsoever with international sales, but I would like to find an easily accessible means of payment that is convenient for both buyer and seller. The items I sell are usually fairly cheap, and in the past many buyers have sent cash, but I occasionally sell high-ticket items where cash would not be an option.

Do international postal m.o.s fill this bill, and what are the most successful credit card options? Last but not least, what has your experience been with international sale in general?

Thanks in advance.

As a UK buyer, I would suggest signing up for Paypal or Billpoint. I purposefully go looking for these type of auctions, because it is so easy to pay.

An international money order is expensive - the bank charges are not nice. It could also get lost in the post. A money order does not provide the same protection to international buyers if the item is lost, or (in the case of high-ticket items) damaged in the post. They also mean instant payment for you.

I don't know what these services are like for the sellers, but I would think that they must be a stimulus for foreign bidders.

Good luck with your foreign sales!

I had a customer use BidPay recently, and it worked out very well. I got notice of payment and a MO in my mail quickly. I know that buyers pay for that service, but perhaps it's not much more than what they pay for a money order from their bank? In my case, I shipped upon notification that payment was en route, which maybe not everyone would do, but I expect it speeded up delivery for my customer.

I sell internationaly all the time. Some pay through Paypal and some through Bidpay. Both ways work well for me. I've never had any problems with Canadians or UK people whatsoever. In fact they make great customers.

As a Canadian seller, most of my buyers are international (read "USA" I've signed up with PayPal and have yet to have payments made through it. I use BillPoint and BidPay and have found that BidPay is an excellent service. Easy and quick without hassles.
btw, listen to "eastwest"....we do rock!

I read all this talk about BillPoint, BidPay and PayPal....but really what does it all mean? I know the principal of how it works BUT how do I the seller get my money?? If it is by money order can they be cashed here in Australia?? If they can do they attract a bank fee??? If yes, any idea how much??? I am keen to help my international buyers out by signing up with one of these but I can't seem to find any answers to the above questions. Thanks for your help.
