I found this seller on eBay that was selling very old board games. The seller included a link to his homepage in the auction and I visited and nearly fainted.

A game that I have been searching for for 20 years was listed there for sale. This was my sister's favorite game of all time and would be unbelievably shocked if she unwrapped it on Christmas.

On 12/1 I wrote to the seller and told him that I would forward payment right away as soon as he sent me the total due. I offered to pay via PayPal if that was prefereable.

On 12/4, I received an e-mail from the seller that said: To where would it be going? I can accept a check drawn on any US bank or a MO in $US.

He is in Canada, so I replied right away on 12/4 with my shipping address and let him know that I would forward a money order as soon as I heard from him.

On 12/8 I sent a copy of my 12/4 reply using my AOL address just in case my reply of 12/4 didn't get there. I got the AOL receipt that the seller read the mail on 12/7. I haven't heard back.

Should I forget about it? I don't want to but it's very odd that there would be no response.

The seller has 10 positive and one negative feedback.

It is possible this person is having trouble with email? For 2 days I could receive email but could not send any. It was a problem with my ISP that eventually was fixed, but what a nightmare.! Just a theory.

Well I'd e-mail him again. His first response certainly indicated his interest in the deal. Your attempts to reach him are legitimate and reasonable. It's not like you're harrassing him or anything. If he's had second thoughts I'm sure he'll eventually just tell you it's unavailable or ignore you until you go away.

You could also check his web site for a phone number or pull his contact info. His site is linked to an auction so it seems appropriate to me.

Hey, you could call him for free with MSN messenger or dialpad or something.

I would pursue it, definitely, for such a situation as a Christmas gift. That is, if you feel there is still time for him to ship it and have it reach you by the 25th, of course. I'm holding my breath right now on a video I bought on Yahoo as a gift for my husband, and just crossing my fingers that the seller doesn't slack off on mailing it.

Good luck!
