I was thinking about posting a featured auction with 100 items in it today. Should I make this a 5 day auction, a 3 day auction, or should I just wait until after Christmas, or will I lose way too many sales? Christmas delivery could only be likely if someone paid with a credit card the day of or the day after the auction ends if it was a 5 day and there would be a little more time if it was a 3 day, but I suspect I would not get the prices up high enough as 100 items starting at $1.00 needs a few days to "get high".

Bringing this one back up to the top because I'm curious to see responses you get.
I ran a small handful of auctions that all end in less than 2 days. I was worried I'd be cutting it too close to Christmas, especially since I sell vintage stuff and clothing (second hand), stuff that is less likely to be bought as a gift for someone. Right now four of those items closed with the BIN feature, over half of the remaining have bids but so far nothing to write home about and they don't seem to be getting as many hits as my items usually do, either. I did it because I really hoped to get some of the payments in by Christmas for my own Christmas money, and i figured if I waited till after Christmas I might get more for the items but it would leave me without that Christmas money, so it was a trade off.
I'm curious to see how the auctions end in a couple of days, if there is a real decline in bid amounts or not. I toyed with running a few more last minute auctions (3 day) starting today but I'm afraid it might be too risky, unless I use reserves, which I loathe. I wish I had more "gift oriented" stuff to sell.
Anyway, let us know what you decide to do, ok? The one item I am holding off on is a vintage (50's I believe) mink jacket... I just can't figure out if it would be a likely "gift" purchase or not, so I think I'll wait till after Christmas and hope a New Year's Eve shopper will want it to complete their ensemble.
