Out of nowhere tonight, I get this email:

you are missing out on some bids (at least mine) because of your no check policy. Why should we trust you if you don't trust us.

Now, I have not accepted checks in over a year with no problems. My sales have not hurt at all. I quit accepting checks because of all the problems I was having with them.

I responded to this guy:

You have the option of not bidding. I have not accepted checks in over a year and this is the first complaint I've had. Not that I owe any explanations, but when I used to accept checks I received bounced checks all the time. One month I received 10 alone.

Why should you trust me? That is what the feedback system is for. My 3000+ positive feedbacks and my 99% positive feedback rating is exactly why you should trust me. Have a nice day.

His response:

How about I buy something from you and give you some negative feedback.

Well, I checked his feedback - 72 with no negs. I replied to him telling him not to bid on my auctions and that that email was being cc'd to safeharbor and time-sensitive.

Who do these people think they are, telling us how to run our auctions? If he doesn't like my terms THEN HIT THE BACK BUTTON AND MOVE ON!

Hi ExecutiveGirl:

In my opinion, it may have been best not to respond at all. It has taken me quite some
time to use the "delete" key with efficiency! I don't delete legitimate questions, but
after a while you develop a sense for spotting the trouble makers.

You can never win with those types, most are looking for an argument and have no
intentions of bidding. If you don't respond, they will forget about you. If you respond,
who knows what they are capable of? Lots of damage could be done and it's not
worth it...

I DO accept checks, but have gotten fewer and fewer since PayPal went on. I have NEVER had a problem with a bounced check, so I guess I should count myself lucky!

As far as changing, responding to this "potential" bidder, it is up to you, but I would have just ignored it..If you don't like my auction, or TOS, don't bid...simple as that!

Do people like this bidder, who send snotty or outright threatening emails regarding a seller's TOS, really think that this obnoxious behavior is going to get a seller to embrace him and his ilk and change his/her TOS accordingly?

I think you did right by replying to bidder AND particularly in cc'ing Safe Harbor. Ignoring this email could've resulted in an intentional deadbeat sale and an undeserved neg for you.
