The bulk of my auctions from the AW Free Listing Day ended last night. So far I've got payments or bids amounting to about $2 per auction, though that factors in that over half of them ended with no bids. So mostly I averaged $4-5 per closed auction, on stuff I pay $0-1 for. That's my usual average return. A few things went a lot higher, but mostly they sold for one bid.
I used this opportunity as a clearance sale on my old inventory, so it's good to get some things moved out, but it's also a reminder that I need to be REAL selective about what I list in the first place.

That's pretty much what happened for me, too, Keziak. I listed a whole lot of stuff that I had avoided listing, figuring it wouldn't sell for much, and where the 25-cent listing fee makes a difference! (Sure hope everything goes as planned on the refund side, LOL.) Anyway, sold about 55%, with some items doing much better than expected, and some items that I thought might do okay drawing no bids at all. As you said, it was a great way to clear out some of the marginal stuff, and a semi-profitable way to reinforce what I think I've learned about what sells for me and what doesn't.
