After the auction has ended, how long before you remove and delete the pictures? Do you wait to receive payment? I have been waiting until I am sure the customer has received the item, do I need to do this? Just wondering what others do.

Photographs are what I sell, and I never remove the pictures when the auction ends. They remain on the closed listing until it is no longer available on eBay. I don't have an agenda with that, I just figure, "what's the point?" And now that AW deletes pics in about the same time frame as listings stay accessable on eBay, it's one less thing I have to stay on top of.

I don't make a point of removing my pictures, but when my AW picture stash gets so big that it's hard to check, I'll get rid of really old photos for auctions that are closed and that I've already gotten feedback on (or have given up expecting any). Certainly anything over a couple of months old can be gotten rid of, unless you have some special reason for keeping it.
I do it mainly for my own convenience. In fact, I'm a little leery of sellers who snatch the picture away the day after the auction closes...even before the buyer could possibly have received the merchandise. A few times I have wanted to check on something I bought, and found the picture was missing only a few days after I'd gotten an EOA.

Do you ever get confused over which pic is which on the AW list? I mean when creating an auction. I seem to run out of new names.

I don't name my pics, I number them. Start at 001, and continue from there. Right now I have just over 500 on the AW site. I always save the listings as an inventory item, and I don't delete them from my computer until after they are listed, that way, while I'm listing, if I need to doublecheck which number a photo is, I can just open the folder the pics are in and see it in a quick glance, rather that having to leave the listing page, go to image hosting, look it up and then go back to create auction. Also, on both my computer and AW, I have the thumbnail view enabled.

I host my pics on my own server.
About once a week, I go through and replace all of the pics from the auctions that have sold. I don't remove them, I replace them with a different graphic that has the same name.
It says something like "Unfortunately, this auction has ended and the item has sold. But we have lots of other similar items for sale all the time. Just click on "View sellers other auctions" above to see our current offerings. Thanks!"

I host my own pictures and have not deleted on in over two years. Some have been overwritten by new items that I gave the same name to, but I don't make an effort to delete any. When I reach my limit for space, I will take a look. But for now they just keep piling up. ( I don't have time to go through them )

I keep then on my ISP's server long past the close date so that customers can review after they receive item if curious.
I name each pic before I upload it. They get cleaned out after a month or so. I even archive them on a CD-ROM and have a pic of everything sold from day 1.
That way when I see something on Antique Roadshow that is sold for big bucks I can check and see if it was the same item that sold on eBay for $50. It can make you feel so good when that happens.
