I contacted a winning bidder and informed them that I had not yet received their payment (approximately 14 days had passed). She responded that the payment (money order) was mailed on 11/27. I advised her to send a personal check and that I would either send the money order back or would cash it (if I received it and it was in my name) and send her the duplicate funds.
I'm not sure if it is worth it for her to put a "stop payment" ($8 fee) on it. (money order should be just over $18) If anyone other than me cashes it, the bank would be liable?? Any suggestions? My feedback is 650 and I have done nearly 800 transactions with no previous "lost" payments where a money order was involved. The buyer has at least 110 positives also so I have no reason to doubt her claim. I appreciate any assistance.

I don't have any advice, unfortunately! Just a comment on something that recently happened: was waiting for a Payment from Texas (I am in Cal.) Bidder assured me it was sent on Nov 22. nearly three weeks later, I get an envelope which had been OPENED and resealed with clear scotch tape. Obviously had been delivered to wrong address. I was fortunate that the person then forwarded it to me!...So, the answer? (NO! I no longer "do" online payments...) I don't know

Only an opinion...

Gosh Shosh!

I mailed a check to a city 30 miles away. When I called 2 weeks later it had not arrived. I mailed another, they both arrived the same day. The business marked one as void and mailed it back with my package. The PO said they sometimes slip behind the machinery and it takes a while to find them. Yeah, right.

I would wait 30 days before worrying too much about it. I would also ship the item, why make the customer wait due to a Postal SNAFU.
It's Xmas time!
