HI all - I was a bit surprised by the posts about the down side or undesirability of free listing. It's a very positive thing for me. I was tickled just now to find one I listed today already has a bid. I'm listing some without photos today to move more quickly, with plans to add photos tomorrow. Guess I won't need to on that one! : - )

Ditto, couple SOLD items already. IMO Free is *always* a good thang.

I totally agree! I use this day to relist the dogs and put it on as a ~SALE~, which I find brings a lot of multiple sales for me. PLUS, because they are relists, it is pratically pain free, I have just done about 45 in the last hour. So what if I get only 10% sold - it may be more! And I never would have listed them anyway!

That isn't FAIR (I'm pouting...sniff sniff)..
I don't have a single bid on any of my auctions yet that I listed for freebie day.
Now I don't know if I should continue to list..will anyone SEE these auctions?
When do you start seeing the bidding after this freebie day? Do you see at the beginning or closing?
Thanks!

Ebay is down - Probably done in by the volume of free listing day. Things I paid to list last week are closing during the outage. That is why some sellers don't like it.

I dislike Free Listing Day for 3 reasons:
1) I always make less profit during free listing periods than in the same period with paid listings because fewer items sell, and they sell at lower prices.
2) Free listings ruin paid auctions that are posted to end during the same time frame.
3) The system always breaks during Free Listing Day. Ebay has been relatively stable for only a few weeks (after introducing the changes to allow for greater capacity and expansion.) It is completely ridiculous to post a free listing day when it is almost 100% certain that it will cause a crash!
Free Listing Day is a marketing ploy to try to get the true number of auctions up to the 5-million level that they have been advertising. Although many sellers love it, it is also very irritating to many sellers who try to make their living on Ebay.

funny, ebay isn't down here. But I did take time off my real job today [the snowy weather was an excuse!] to list and load everything as early as possible, in anticipation of the whole thing crashing by 6PM EST. I hope my batch of AM-Pro listings gets through.

Four BIN sales already! It's a little disorienting because ebay hasn't sent out the winning notices yet, so I'm getting email and scratching my head "was that one I just listed..?"

Everything I've dumped on there has such a slim profit margin anyway (silly buys) that a free listing day is a godsend. If I sell half of it I will be dancing on air.
No hits yet, but I remain ever hopeful..

No hits yet, either. But I'm hoping to get rid of a lot of books that have been clogging up my bookshelfes (So I can go out and buy some more!!!) Have no idea what to do if a lot of them sell. The chaos would probably drive me crazy!!! 'm not used to high sales. Usualy I'm listing them at yahoo, and relisting, and relisting.

Yup, got the BIN sales, plus bids on about 4 others already. Funny, the buyers who've contacted me have said things like "I'm heading out of town, will mail check on my way!" Gotta love them for taking time out of packing to buy on ebay! : - )

Got bids on 4 of the 6 I put up just after midnight Wed. Morning. Have multiple hits on almost all of the 38 auctions I put up. Most went up late tonight. I put up paperback books which used to sell so well, but have been dead in the water since halfcom came on.
Not Dragonfyee on Ebay.

Yippee here too...three BIN sales within two hours of listing, and lots of hits on the other stuff. Spent minimal time on the project since these were all items that hadn't sold a time or two before, but stuff I believe is good and should sell--it was nice to give them another shot. I only had one problem--eleven of my listings got hung up in "processing" for hours, and when I logged in this a.m. see they never did get launched. Oh well. No big deal.

Would you know I did my relisting on the 18th and 19th... *sigh* Oh well, got bids on lots of those, so that's good.
Still managed to put up 200 auctions just in 3 hours work last night. One bid so far, but its early. I spread things out 3-5-7-and 10 days when I had enough volume to do so. Hopefully we'll get a few sales.
I've already decided to put together my Mister Lister files the 1st week of December so all I have to do is edit to account for any changes, upload, and post them next year. 8)

Me too, I could have kept going with the marginal books and CD's, but ran out of steam. So far, 24 hours later, 3 bids and counting. Happy happy joy joy
