Hello All:
All along I've done what I was taught about eliminating cookies by searching in "Find", then going to "View" and under "Options" eliminating "Temp Files" and "History". Tonight while searching for a file, I found what is called "Temporary Internet File" and it's filled with "Cookies" dating back to 1998.
I want to delete these "cookies" too but since I didn't know about this file, I wanted to see if anyone else knew of this file and if it's OK to delete all the files in it.
How come some cookies go into a "Cookie" file and now I find this "Cookie" repository under "Temporary Internet File">
Does anyone else know of this file and is it ok to delete? I thank you for your help!!!
Seasons Greeting To All!
Joe

Yes...Anything older than week-old can be deleted, assuming computer will let you. You will be warned if the file is needed. 1998, hey?...You should gain a little bit of freee space...

Interesting! I always thought they were all stored in the Cookie folder, but I found a whole old bunch still in my Temp Internet Folder too. Select all and delete.
On occasion, a cookie file holds useful stuff, like your user ID when you log back into AW. No big deal if you delete it, just reenter the next time you visit and get on with it.

your TEMPORARY INTERNET FILE is only used by MSIE -- Internet Explorer -- and not by Netscape. Yes, it is safe to empty that directory. I do it frequently. Like mballai said, you'll just need to reenter a password or two if necessary.
you might want to empty your MSIE cache also.
I prefer and use Netscape both at work and home, so I know more about that.

if you do a right click on the big blue e, on your desktop, and select properties, on the GENERAL tab, in the center of the box is TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES, click on DELETE FILES. This is also linked to the TIF directory in your C: drive. However, by going this route, you can delete the cache or the cookies, or both if you want. By emptying the TIF folder in your C: drive, you delete all at the same time. You may not want this all the time. I sometimes have trouble remembering my myriad of passwords I need for work and personal business.
Last time I emptied out my TIF on my C: drive, I couldn't access my employer's intranet after work hours. What a pain in the butt!
Cookies, themselves, don't take up that much room, it's the cache. Netscape is so bad about this. I flush mine about 5 times a day.
