just got an AW email in my box saying that as of FEB. no more free AW e-mail. Also see that AW no longer is doing appraisals. Anybody got a hint at other changes coming from AW in the new year? Like fees......

Well the appraisal thing was useless to begin with...but if they are getting rid of free email, are they instead going to charge for it?
It wouldn't surprise me at all if they did. I never bothered to even try AW's image hosting, since most of the auctions I look at that use their facilities load slower than molasses (at least from my vantage point on the net).

I agree that appraisal was mostly useless, but the image hosting while using AM Pro is great compared to ebays pic host. The templates are really useful but the WBN is a loser. Email was a nice addition to a full service Auction tools site.
All said, an AW fee when postal rates are rising and maybe ebay is offering more services might just be the "xtra straw on the back" for many AW users. A fee might have been easier to accept a few months ago, but me thinks the new year will be quite a weed out time for the auction services site as ebay offers more alledged "free" services.

I think AW is a tremendous asset with the message board and hope they'll continue to find ways to fund it through advertising, or value added services. etc.. I still use my own ISP for hosting and don't use counters.
Bottom line I want my listing pics to load as fast as possible. I've always felt free hosting doesn't give me much room to complain if a problem.
Many internet sites are going to need a business model that makes money. I'm not smart enough to know what that is, just as I wasn't smart enough to bet on the internet stocks and of course sell early this year.
The internet is great as long as it's free, but I'll think long and hard before posting my credit card.
