Anyone here have any clout with the eBay creative and design folks?
How about making BIN availible for people who sell dutch in large quantities. Or any quantity. We could sell at a fixed price to anyone willing to use BIN (or people could bid traditionlay and wait for EOA).
When someone bid, then eBay would deduct the percentage fee from the account and the seller would get an EOA (depending on thier notification prefs) that it had been sold. Anyone else like that idea?
I assume that the BIN feature will be extended to Dutch auctions just as soon as eBay is satisfied it has proven its worth in regular auctions.
And once some of the bugs are shaken out of the current BIN system.
BIN is little more than a retailing adaptation to the auction format. And when someone uses the Dutch format to sell dozens or hundreds of items, it is rare for the final price to exceed the starting price. IN that sense the Dutch format already is leaning towards a traditional retail format.
BIN is another way to implement a "first bid wins" auction format. With the advantage that the seller can set a different BIN price from the opening bid.

Yeah, I've been waiting for that for months now! Years even...Haggle.com has a good implementation of this. It will cutdown on fraud too

I participated in a Dutch Auction not too long ago where the seller stated in the ad that if you wanted your item right away, you could contact him after you placed your bid and he would proceed with the transaction. I didn't really think about if that was 100% legal or not, but if you are dealing with very large quantities, it probably would work out okay.
I've been over to Haggle but noticed that's where alot of NARU'd eBay Sellers end up.

Right...I can see how ebay would object to that but it's not really different from saying visit my web site (where similar items sold)
Anyway, if you are selling stuff where QTY is 1000 it's obbvious that eBay profits when soemoen bids and orders early (if they would not have bid before) cuz then they get the FVF...Anyway, haggle is kinda cool...too bad they don't have the same userbase.
