WELL I GUESS WE SHOULD EXPECT MORE LIKE THIS.I HAD AN AUCTION CLOSE SATURDAY FOR 123.00.THE BIDDER EMAILED ME AND SAID A MONEY ORDER WILL BE ON ITS WAY TUESDAY.TODAY I RECEIVED A EMAIL FROM THE BIDDER SAYING SHE HAD TO CANCEL HER BID BECAUSE SHE HAD TO PAY HER GAS BILL WHICH SHE JUST GOT AND IT DOUBLED.SHE HAS A POSITIVE FEEDBACK OF 42. I GUESS I BELIEVE HER,BUT THEN AGAIN BUSINESS IS BUSINESS.WHAT WOULD YOU DO? LEAVING A NEG FEEDBACK WONT HELP AFTER ALL THE GAS PRICES HAVE GONE CRAZY.IF THESE NATURAL GAS PRICES KEEP RISING WE WONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT EBAY BEING DOWN.THEIR WONT BE ANY BIDDERS AT ALL.

Heating bills are a big problem this year for a lot of people. In that it takes about 2 years to develop supplies, it is probably going to get worse before it gets better. If what she says is true, it really isn't her fault that she can't pay. On the other hand, each of us needs to know our pocket book before promising to buy from someone. I guess your conscience will have to be your guide as to neg or not to neg...good luck!!!

I'd believe it too. The fall/winter months are when my bill drops (no more A/C), and I haven't seen in drop all that much. The electric use dropped, but my gas use increased. Hrmph.

In California Edison keeps saying they need to raise prices because they are deep in the red. They run public announcements but refuse to do any interviews - guess they don't want to answer the hard questions. What I found funny was that Edison had a float in the Rose Parade.
Hope my bidders sent their money before they opened their gas and electric bill.

Yeah, it sure must've been a huuuuuge surprise to get that big gas bill after a month of arctic temperatures and countless news stories about gas prices going up.
I'd do the NPB/FVF thing and neg her to warn other sellers of her "plight". Just the facts: "2 days post auction, claimed she couldn't afford it anymore."
Should be interesting to see what else she's bidding on that she can't afford.

I have heard all sorts of reasons for late payment or no payment. Had one fellow tell me that a gas line rupture closed his business and he couldn't pay. He was bidding fast and furious on other auctions at the same time he said this! Suggest you look up the bidding history of this person. The person in question just decided he didn't want to buy certain items from me and others and didn't pay. He talked a good line, but that's all it was.

Well it beats the multiple Grandmother/Mother/Aunt/dog etc. etc. died/sick/maimed etc. etc. etc. that I get multiples of everytime I send a batch of payment reminders. The bottom line, is she bid/she owes/she must pay...or she will get negged. If you fall for one sob story, you might as well get ready for more of the same. Hate to say it, but I see all the time, aalso the people with the biggest sob stories are still bidding....just wonder if Visa will accept large gas bill as nonpayment excuse.

I don't know where your bidder lives, but in California, we are being hit awfully hard. For many people, this does/will create a great hardship. Your call!
Gosh Shosh!

If she is not bidding since the claimed date of receiving the bill, I would consider giving her the benefit of the doubt and just file a NPB request.
