I won an auction on 12/14 and contacted the seller on the phone (his number was listed in his item description) that same day so that I could pay with my CC and hopefully speed up delivery of the item. The seller informed me that the item would be shipped on 12/15 and that I should allow one full week for delivery. That was fine with me as one full week meant I should receive the item on 12/22 (just in time for Christmas, since the item was to be a Christmas gift).

Well, the item didn't arrive on 12/22. I figured with all the holiday deliveries, the item just didn't make it in time. "No biggie," I thought, "I'll just give the gift late". However, I became slightly concerned when, by 12/27, I still hadn't received the item. So I emailed the seller and polietly inquired if he had a tracking number for the item since I hadn't received it. Seller responded fairly quickly with the tracking info and apologized that I had not yet received the item.

So I pull up the tracking info and noticed that the item wasn't shipped until 12/26, a full twelve days after I payed for the item! I received the item today and now its time to leave feedback. I don't feel I should NEG the seller as I did receive the item as described and conversely, a positive feedback seems to be a little generous, given the extreme lag in shipping the item. (Please note that I haven't contacted the seller about the lag in shipping as the reason for the lag isn't important to me at this point. Since the seller and I spoke and he informed me I would receive the item in one week, any change in that should be incumbent on the seller to let me know). So a neutral seems appropriate. Since I've never left anything but positive feedback I was curious how others might word a neutral in this case. Thanks for any assistance.

You could leave a positive that said

"Slow shipping, but item as described"

I think you should definitely mention this to the seller though. He did not do as he said, a man is as good as his word. If shipping was delayed for a good reason he should have informed you.

fiset: Having been disappointed myself when an item was not mailed for 3 weeks after my Paypal payment ( it was to be a Christmas gift also ) , I feel for you.

I did leave a very stiff explanatory neutral . The seller is now Naru'd , and appears to have numerous complaints regarding poor communication and slow shipping. He ran about 3 Dutch jewelry auctions at the end of November . I received my item December 28th!

If there's room , I'd maybe say , e.g. "Nice item/Not mailed pre-Xmas as promised by seller after CCpayment. "

or "Item sent 12days after CC payment, not next day as seller promised."

" Nice item. Shipping time not as promised by seller. Disappointed."

( it's kind of hard to know how many letters one can fit in.. I don't remember the limit and usually have to adapt .)
I think that if you can get in the fact that you paid by credit card , it would indicate that that's no guarantee . This is the sort of warning I'd appreciate , rather than just " slow shipping" ( compared to what? and at Christmas it's always slow etc. ) and to show that the seller didn't make an effort or keep his/her word.

As he/she didn't bother to offer an explanation , they show little concern , and much unreliability. People need to know. Go for it , and good luck.

A neutral seems appropriate. A verbal agreement was discussed between the buyer & seller. The seller stated the item will be shipped on 12/15 in hopes it would be there in time for Christmas. The seller failed to meet that obligation when he did not comply with what was agreed upon. The seller also failed to notify the buyer that the shipment was not sent.

When did the item arrive? 12 days after receipt of payment is extreme slow shipping!! Especially if the payment was zapped.
