Hi - can anyone give me some advice for a good digital camera to buy. I'm looking for one which pretty much just point and click and that's it. I'm just using it for ebay so I don't really need anything fancy. I have a Kensington I bought last year but to get it to work correctly, the light has to be just right, the focus has to be just in the right place, the item has to be placed in a certain way, the moon and stars have to be aligned correctly etc.
Thanks!

Sony Mavica is great and easy to use. Uses floppies as film - no cables, has zoom so you can get really close. Absolutely idiot proof! Not good outdoors, though.

Definitely the Mavica.
And it works JUST fine outdoors.

The Polaroid 640 is a good little camera for auction pictures. It costs around 169.00 at Wal-Mart.
It is not so good when you want to use it as you would a regular camera however.
I have this camera and I have just upgraded to an Olympus. The Olympus is really good. But for auction pics only you can't go wrong with the little Polaroid 640.

Well ~ not to repeat the previous two ~ but I too have to go with 2 thumbs up for the Sony Mavica! I have been doing online auctions for about 6 months ~ first a used a cheap rip off ~ then went with a Polaroid Digital camera ~ and when it went bad I took it back to Walmart (that God for that 90 day return policy) and got this one. It is not cheap ~ around $450.00 ~ but so worth it! I took it to Disney World and got great pictures outdoors aswell!

I'm sorry but I disagree with all you Mavica lovers on this board. I had a Mavica FD73, and it is a very low resolution camera (only 640 x 480) and the only redeeming factor is the convenient floppy disk. For the same price (around $399) you can get a much better camera -- Olympus, Fuji... with super resolution, 2.1 megapixel. Other higher end models of Mavica might be worthwhile but the price goes much much higher with those other models.

I have a Sony Mavica FD90 and I love it. Resolution enough for my needs, excellent macro ability, and the versatility of being able to use either floppy disks or the Sony Memory Stick with a floppy adapter. Had the FD73 before. It is WAY worth the difference in cost to get the FD90! The FD73 doesn't offer nearly high enough resolution for most needs. Oh yeah, and it is SUPER easy to use!

If all you want is a camera for auction pics,I suggest you look at an older model Sony Mavica. I have the FD71 which I've had for about 2 1/2 years (I just got the FD85 because amazon.com had it at an irresistible price shortly before Christmas). I used the FD71 for everything from auction pics to vacation pics to a brochure for work - I loved it! In fact, I'm holding on to my FD71 until I know for sure I'll be keeping the FD85 - Amazon is giving until the end of January for holiday returns
Do a search on eBay for the FD71, but I also suggest doing a web search as well - e.g., on www.mysimon.com - to see if other e-tailers have it for less.
