There is a user who has been suspended at least 4 times that I am aware of...she was a deadbeat on 22 of my auctions last fall, sent me a bad check for $370...thank heaven I never shipped. I am in contact with several other ebay sellers who have had same experiences. She gets suspended, lays low for a short while, then starts bidding again under a new name. Problem is she starts bidding on same sellers' auctions....eventually makes the mistake of sending an email from her old email address. How on earth does a person deal with this..I just cancelled her bids on 5 of my auctions this morning, and now will have to file FVF for the one she won with BIN. I am increasingly paranoid about buyers with zero feedback because of her, but hate to be that way. Obviously she has a mental problem, or is just a criminal, but what do I do about it?????? Am stumped, hope you can help!!!

Have you and other sellers reported this activity to SafeHarbor, or are you just filing NPBs/FVFs?
I had the same situation as you last month. We emailed SafeHarbor and the bidder was NARU'd within 24 hours. Of course, she can always come back in some new incarnation.

Usually all members on eBay the first day they signed with eBay they put their original name, address, Phone, etc. Get the info from the first ID, then call her/his house, you do not have to say your name ID or etc, all you have to say is, I already found where you and your husband work and if you don't stop bothering my with my e business I could contact your bosses and I will tell them what you are doing on the Internet against other business, and this will not be the first time. ...No matter if her/his place of job have to do with you or eBay, BUT believe me their bosses will try to find out how true is this, and if she could represent a treat to them. So tell this lady what you are planing to do. Also tell her that no matter what if she change her ID or name, every single computer has a serial # and every internet connection has an IP number and once you submit a bid or send an email to anyone these 2 informations goes along with your email/requestt, tell this lady that you already have those 2 numbers and will contact the Police for an immediate tracking, because what she's doing is against the law, misusing a computer is against any business or business transaction is against the law in any state and it's punishable from 3 to 15 years in jail and/or/PLUS fines. What she's not realizing is that she's interfering with eBay and its activities.

You need to email safeharbor and this bad penny (cc safeharbor when you write 'em)that you do not want their bidding on your auctions. If they do, you just email safeharbor and they get NARU'd.

I thought you couldn't get the user information on a NAU'd account.
A bad check is only a crime if something of value was received for the check. If the seller didn't ship no crime has been committed.
susiegirl - About all you can do is identify the bidders as this user and send them an email with a cc to safeharbor that you are cancelling their bid and for them not to bid again. If they do the account will be naru'd. But first ask yourself did you and these sellers all do something to this user? Do you and the sellers whose auctions they bid on all sell similar items? If so you might have a competitior wrecking your auctions to sell similar items to all of you.

Unless ebay's changed its policies, only sellers are required to use a CC to register (and then it's not so much for verification as it is for billing purposes). Frankly, if ebay REQUIRED me to provide my CC info merely to bid - when I don't intend to buy anything from ebay itself, but from individual sellers appearing on ebay - I'd hit the <back> button right quick.
poton, your English isn't the problem; it's your understandinig of US law. Making threats over the phone is not considered appropriate; in fact, you could end up with a charge of extortion hanging over your widdy head if the seller gets his dander up. You also have a rather unique understanding of tracking IP numbers as well, which apparently invovles psychic abilities. And bidder is NOT "interfering with ebay's activities".
heroyuri is correct regarding bad checks. If you've got the item in hand, the loss is negligible and unlikely to be prosecuted.

QUILTS you talk too much but really are lost. Exthortion? What extortion, he's not asking money in return for something. This is unfair world probably 10 years ago this was not a good idea bu todays this is something normal and the law cosider that way, of course unless you cross the line. Quilts buy eBay for dummies and you will see there that a lady did this to a guy and the guy lost his job of 5 years. So quilt I don't want to be rude but before you try to tell me something read the constitution, and a lot of stuff else, don't repeat and repeat and repeat what you have heard from dad or mom those are old stories and doesn't apply today's world. I was in similar situation like this and I did what I said and the harrasment stopped in the first place, you just need one phone call that's it, you don't need to harras anybody. Quilts also this guy is fully interfering with eBay activities, why eBay doesn't take it to court? Because are hundreds and hundreds of peaople who are doing this, eBay doesn't do anything because they have more serious problems and cases where to put their energies, so these cases are minors but theyr are still misusing a computer against their activities. Quilt please next time read a lot more, please also consult lawyers and politics and once in a while read books about eBay, Internet and the dot coms.

Just an update...the deadbeat has been NARU'ed by ebay...she lasted under this newest user name less than 36 hours. Safe Harbor got complaints from multiple sellers re her today. One sick puppy is this gal, hope she quits!
