Ebay may not be perfect or exactly what you as an individual would want, but its up to you to come to eBay or not.
Work with it, not against it. Lets face it, nothing in this world is perfect.
From a personal point of view I can do as much or as little as I feel like.
I can work in my own time and at my own pace, (not the bosses).
I can choose to deal in whatever I want.
It's funny that when I go buying stock so many of my sources are close to golf courses and fishing spots!
Where else can I get so much exposure for my items to so many buyers for an outlay of less than a dollar?
Don't sweat the petty things in life. Stop to see the big picture. It looks pretty good to me!

YUP! That's one of the things that I marvel about every day...Little ol' me can list stuff that gets seen all over the world! WOW! I'm not a huge seller, but I sell $2,000 to $4,000 a month and it is wellllll worth it! So what they went down again. That happens. Besides I had a few auctions that were ending yesterday and didn't because of the downage and they got several bids today. Yippee!

Competition is healthy. Lack of it leads to eBay-syndrome complacency. Simple truth of economics. If eBah had a real viable competitor out there, I have a feeling crashes would become nearly a thing of the past.

Something tells me you've never worked for a computer company! Computers crash. It's a fact and it isn't going to change anytime soon. eBay is on the cutting edge and is using cutting edge technology. The amount of data that they handle daily, 24/7 (well, mostly) is enough to boggle the mind.

If you want a more reliable system, advertise your wares in the newspaper or via direct snail-mail. I'll stick with eBay. They're tops in my book. Perfect? No. But they're the best game in town and I'd rather help them get better with positive suggestions than constantly complaining.

Sharkbaby Thanks for the post. My New Years Resolution/Goal for 2001 has been to sell $2000 - $4000 a month on Ebay. It is always encouraging to hear that people are able to make that happen.

borgt: That is why I never #*!@ when they are down.

People tend to think that computers are so advanced today,
that these things "can be prevented".

They can be PREPARED, but not prevented.

Computers WILL crash...fact of life.

Same way, EVERY hard drive in existance WILL crash one day, it's just a matter of WHICH day.

Remember, MAN created computers, and MAN is fallable.

borgt - Actually I design web sites for the US government. Yes, systems crash, but eBay doesn't seem to want to invest the bucks to reduce the number. Imagine if the lights went out once a week at all the Sears across the country because of faulty wiring. You know what I mean?

I'm another ebay fan. I've been a buyer and seller for over a year now and have been treated fairly.
I'm still learning and marveling at what sells and doesn't.
Today I spent the ENTIRE day out shopping!(I've been stuck in the house for 2 weeks since the ice storm hit)..boy did I save a lot of money!
The point is there is NOTHING else I could do that would:
1. Let me work when I want
2. Give me the world as a marketplace
3. Bring in extra money.
4. Allow me to SHOP TIL I DROP and call it 'work'
5. Allow me to go to GARAGE SALES when we don't have an ice storm...I used to feel guilty if I went 2 days a month...now my DH doesn't say a thing..and it's business!
6. Allow me to get CHECKS in the mail almost every day!
7. Allows me to start up my FIRST ever personal collection!(It is Tweety Bird stuff)..and I don't feel guilty because I pay for it with money I've earned.
8. Ebay makes this all possible.
9. I am truly grateful!

Carole who is a happy camper for shopping today for over 6 hours ..got some AWESOME deals...love it!
