I was just told by my seller recently that the item I won was broken while it was being packed. I was greatly disappointed yet accepted that things like this happen. However, I had already paid for the item through Billpoint with VISA. In the meantime, I had also won another bid on a second item from the seller. He said, if it wanted, he would put the money I already paid towards this second item (which was of lesser value) and credit me the difference. But in order for this to happen, I would have to send him an invoice for the refund. Well, I didn't know how to do this, so I ended up doing it wrong and paying for the second item...and no credit showed on my VISA account. So now I must be creditted for the first item, the second item and the different (which is a mere $1.75). Can someone tell me in 'user friendly' terms how to go about getting my refund without any further hassel. I'm afraid I'm wearing my seller's nerves thin, and mine as well.

Many thanks!

Your seller is confused.

To do a refund or credit, all he has to do is go back to the original transaction, in his billpoint history, and there is a big clickable button for "refund." From there, he would enter the amount of the refund and it's done. Both you and he will get notices confirming the refund. It's really simple.

For good measure, from Billpoint's help section:

To refund an order:

Go to the Billpoint Order Detail page for the order you want to refund. To get to the Order Detail page, click the Billpoint Seller "Click here" link on the eBay View Item page for your auction after the buyer has placed the order. You can also log in to your My Billpoint account from My eBay or the Billpoint homepage and click the "Sales History" link to find the Order Detail page.
Click the "Refund" button on the Order Detail page.
Enter the amount you'd like to refund and the reason, then click the "Submit Refund" button.

"In both cases billlpoint has told me that because there is no balance in the account they are unable to refund"

Do they mean no money in your actual bank account? Or no money in your 'to be deposited' area? If there is no money in your bank account, and that is why they are refusing to refund (rightfully so), don't you think you need to deposit or transfer some money into that account so you can refund your buyer???

Please try not to take offense, but Billpoint makes refunding so easy...it's a shame your buyer has to be jumping through hoops to get her money back.

See the thread titled "How I send Billpoint invoice W/ No AUCTION #"
You can send a general invoice for the $1.75. I to have had problems trying to refund the buyer with Billpoint eCheck, they shouldn't have the refund button if they can't do refunds. I emailed the address listed and they wrote back the next day saying they forwarded my email to another billpoint department, then I never heard back. I sent a check after a week of not hearing back from billpoint because I kept thinking they were going to do the refund and I didn't want to pay them back twice. They always send your money to deposit right away so it's never available. Anyone ever got the refund to work? And yes there's money in my bank account and billpoint account.
