Auction for three widgets ends on 12/4.

He says he's going to pay by BillPoint. He says it doesn't work, and will pay by money order.

No MO comes for over a week... I email him, he says MO was sent on 12/7 give it until 12/24, and if it's not there he will send another. No MO on 12/24. Because of holidays, and thinking maybe he sent it on the day I reminded him, I wait until 12/27. No MO. I email him that it must be lost. He waits a few days and then email me that he paid by paypal. I go look, no payment. I let him know, he writes back again and says to check my account again, he's "still trying". Still no paypal payment.

I don't want to tell the guy I think he's lying, but I've got a feeling he may be just stringing me along until I can't file a NPB alert...

Is there a tactful way of telling someone you think they are lying? Should I just file the NPB alert regardless if his continued communication?

Hi there,

I had the same type of problem a few months back. Buyer kept stringing me along with the checks in the mail, BillPoint is having problems, etc., etc. After 4 weeks, I filed a NPB. Received the check about a week later! Good luck...

David.

We must have had the same buyer because this just happened to me too. I always consider the profit in deciding if it's worth the time pursuing the payment. In this case, I emailed him once, he said if the money order doesn't arrive soon, he'll issue a check. I filed for a FVF notice to get in on time, then I waited ten days, still no money so I went ahead and filed for the FVF refund. He emailed back saying why do I keep sending ebay notices, he'll get the money to me. I don't know if he's lying, I just know this has gone on too long and the sale's void.

After aprox. 3,000 online sales my experience is 95% of the time it is a lie. Sounds like this guy is in that 95% to me.
