If you could change one thing on eBay what would it be? Remember only 1 Thing.

There would be no listing fees - only Final Value Fees, or a flat monthly fee for listing.

My biggest change would be for auctions to get indexed into Search, title AND description, within 24 hours...
I would like to be able to do 3 or 5 day auctions, but can't because they simply have gotten worse and worse with indexing...

When I file for my credits due to a Deadbeat bidder, once I file, it would automatically "lock out" that deadbeat bidder from being able to leave me a negative retaliatory feedback.

I'd count on the rest of you to change the auction related stuff, and I'd change a billing issue: idiotic eBay would accept online payment methods just like auction sellers do. They'd take e-checks and ACH automatic monthly drafts, or BidPay, Western Union Money Zap, or <gasp> even PayPal or something similar.

I cannot believe how STUPID they are in that they only take CC's or snail mail payments for sellers to pay their fees. Well in truth they'll take wire transfers, slapping on a $5 fee to that in addition to the $8 fee my bank charges to send it! No thanks. This issue has caused me more headache in my years on eBay than almost anything else, since I'm not your "average" consumer with oodles of credit cards to pick from, and snail mail payments take aeons to be credited to your eBay account. I can't believe an online business, in this day and age, isn't taking e-checks or auto-drafts. Heck, AOL was taking automatic checking drafts 7 years ago, and I don't like them either, but they were at least "with the times"!

One thing I like about Yahoo is the ability to pick the day and time of the closing of an item. They need to bring this feature over to eBah.

Another attribute of Yahoo is the ease of filling out the item form. I always feel like I'm answering 101 questions with eBay: Do you want to post bold, do you want this item to be featured, will you ship by space shuttle to other worlds, where are you from, why are you here, do you want to host a pic here or in the netherworld, do you want to see your posting sideways or for us to crash when it closes.....?????

My pet peeve is the inaccurate search information page. I have to click on each individual auction to see what the real information is instead of being able to see the current bid amounts on the resulting search page. Why bother to have the darn thing if it's not accurate?

refund ALL listing fees for deadbeat transactions. I loose several hundred dollars every month in featured listing costs for deadbeat bidders that ebay does (or cares)little about. Ebays pat answer, "well you dont pay the listing fees if you relist it" WRONG! dead WRONG.

Since everyone has already hit on the most inportant changes we'd like to see...

How about an Invoice that makes sense.

I was just looking mine over this AM(usually I don't). I can't never make any sense out of the darn things. I wouldn't know if they made a mistake or not. Trying to cross match them is a NIGHTMARE!

Anyone else have problems understanding those darn things?

I'd like a way to relist items that didn't sell in bulk rather than having to go into each item to do so. I usually don't change much of anything in the listing when I relist, so that'd be a real time saver to be able to relist them all.

That, or have an option to relist when you post an option, so it'll relist automatically.

One thing?

I would make sure that ALL users have to be verified. That's it.

I would NOT do away with listing fees, if only because that nominal fee does diminish the amount of crap that'll be listed. You might not think so, but users are a little more realistic about selling items when they have to pay a fee up front to do it.

Perhaps the listing fee could be returned if the item sells. That would solve the problem.

Hmm, I was going to say no listing fees, but what Powderblue says makes sense about discouraging a flood of "just because" listings. OTOH, if I sell something, I sort of don't care I paid a quarter. I do care when my listing closes with no bids.

So I have to go back and cast my vote for Free Listing Day every day!
