Is this insurance business really something we should do? Or can we get buy without it? I see the rates are going up to 1.10 for under $50. I wonder if the post office isn't the only one coming out on this procedure? What does everyone think?? Thanks

You can deal with insurance in several different ways, but the one thing you should be sure to do is to clearly explain to your buyers what your policy (or lack thereof) is.

Self insure the small stuff that you can afford to replace- it's more cost effective and saves you time. I think I've had maybe 3 items lost or damaged in about 5,000 shipments.

Use U-PIC for the pricey stuff that you can't take a chance on. 40 cents per $100 value, and you don't have to stand in line at the PO.

I do what magazine_guy recommends.

The only time I purchase insurance from the post office is if the buyer specifically requests it and pays for it, or if the package is headed to a country U-PIC does not cover.
