Anybody out there sell over multiple marketplaces or webstores at the same time? I'm wondering how much effort i should put into selling in places other than eBay. Is there a significant upside or is it mostly a headache? I notice a lot of sellers have storefronts or websites too -- are they (you actually doing a significant amount of business there?

I sell a few different places I tend to keep myself focused on my ebay sales but once your other options start getting sales it great inbetween income to ebay but also checking for other sales and the extra packing means much more time effort and work daily.

I get my regulare sales on ebay daily and weekly one or two sales a week or a month on yahoo. also I get email now and then from a buyer or two who might have seen something list a week or two ago and I never relisted makeing offers on the nonauction items.

I have not made any sales or real money from my websites or web stores but my web site has links to my auction and may drive people comeing to my site to my auctions.

The answer to this question depends on 1) what you sell, and 2) whether you're full-time or a hobbyist.

In the antiques/collectibles market, where I specialize, I can tell you that the more you diversify, the better. Besides ebay, I also have several mall spaces and have leased a storefront into which I'll soon be moving the internet portion of my business. I have a website currently in development and maintain about 50 items on Yahoo at any given time, although I haven't decided if I'll continue that after the 10th.

It's lots of work, but worth it for me so long as it keeps me away from the dreaded time clock <shudder>.

There are several yahoo id's and accounts for sale there. Some even include the feedback. Not a good place to go.

I have been on Ebay over two years and have had great results. I tried Yahoo and listed 10 auctions for 5 days, and only sold 2 items and 1 buyer never contacted me.
I don't know for sure, but I feel Ebay is where I will stay I wanted to branch out but the work is more then the profit.
I have a web site, but it does nothing.
I listed it in search areas but that didn't help. It's a big world out there, it's not easy to be found.
I also just closed my Antique Store in Sept.
retail dropped, it is dropping everywhere, but some people don't know when to bail out.
I used to sell at flea markets also, but now shoppers don't come like they use to because venders are selling on the internet, and not being the better stuff to the markets.

We have a collectibles business. Our biggest sales are on Ebay. We also use Yahoo and get mixed results but sell things on there that we can just repost. But we will be stopping that on the 10th. We also have a storefront. Been at this location since 1988. We are probably going to close up and do internet only. We average about two people a day in the store. Not worth it for the overhead we pay. But Ebay is the number one money maker for us.
