I don't know what to do at this point! One day I had called X.com asking how to order new checks. They told how to order checks and I did immediately. The VERY next day, was when I received notice that X.com was closing all accounts. I was upset that they didn't tell me this the day before when they helped me order checks. Anyways, I immediately stopped using my X.com card & checking account. A few days before they were closing the accounts (12/1) I checked my balance online and there was less than $100 in my account. I figured since I didn't use the account in the few weeks beforehand, that this was my balance and I withdrew it all (actually, I transferred it to another bank account).
Well. The check I had written to place my new order of checks BOUNCED because X.com had closed my account. They charged me a $25 fee for that bounced check. THEN, they charged me another $25 fee for my balance going below $0. THEN, out of nowhere I get these $25 fees that just say "RET-FEE" and after my account has been closed it shows a balance of -$175.00! I've NEVER bounced a check before and now this!!
They had mailed me a letter in the mail saying "if you don't mail us a check for $175.00 within 10 days we will go to collections, etc, etc) So I IMMEDIATELY mailed them a check for $175 on 12/11. As of today, the check still hasn't cleared my account.
I went to their website yesterday and tried their 1-888 number - it says offices closed on 12/1 and to email them. I emailed them to ask them what's up with my account. Today they email me saying they never rec'd my check, and to stop payment on it (there's another $20 fee I have to pay now) and to mail them another check. Oh, and if I have any questions to call them at 1-888-blahblahblah. Well I called the 1-888 number they gave me and it says "sorry, our offices closed on 12/1 please email us with any questions"!!!!!!!!!!
I'M NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!!!!!! I just emailed them asking them to CALL ME but I doubt they will. Now I don't know what to do and I'm extremely upset about this and don't know what to do!!!
Does anyone know of another # I can call them at?????

On Monday, call your state's Banking Commission AND maybe the state's attorney general about the problem of their unwarranted fees.
The reason the check bounced is because THEY CLOSED THE ACCOUNT ... their going out of business should not cost you $175.

Received this response to my email:
As stated previously, live customer service for X.com is available by calling 1-888-447-8999 between the hours of 8am-4pm (CST), Monday through Friday. I do apologize for not clarifying the time frame and days assistance is available at this number.
So, I called them again. They said now that they *might* have received my payment but because they are switching over (to what??) they are very busy and very behind. She will have someone email me within 3-4 days to let me know if they received my payment which I mailed out on 12/11.
It's amazing how a company you thought so highly of you wish you never heard of!

Well, my check cleared my bank today that I wrote to X.com on December 11th. Here they told me to stop payment on it, send another one, etc just a couple days ago.
How nice of them to let me know they received my payment. What morons.
