eBay is a clueless as Yahoo. Those executives are probably holding meetings on what to do to counter the threat of Yahoo taking away
the "quality" listing by charging.
They will probably raise prices to meet the threat.
After all the higher the quality the more it will migrate to the higher price - right?, right?

the other day when I had to email customer support at ebay, I asked the rep what she thought of the "Yahoo news." she wrote back saying she tries not to follow the news.

I hope Yahoo's fortunes change. I think the idea of charging for listings is a step in the right direction. I saw 2 types of listings on Yahoo for the most part. Some items were junk that nobody would bid on and others were priced at unreasonable levels. Maybe with the fees Yahoo can someday become an auction site. Yahoo's system where people could park items for months served nobody.

The ideal of improving listing through fees sounds right but it does not work when you do the math. I sell high quality items below wholesale on Ebay and Yahoo. I do 5 times more business on Ebay and under Yahoo's new fee structure I will have to pay more to list on yahoo for 1/5 as many sales. Ebay can justify listing fees (and final value fees) becasue of their traffic but Yahoo should stick with final value fees. For me, I am just listing on Ebay.
