Hi Folks,I got this menu today at an estate sale for 2.00.It is from Di Maggio's Restaurant on Fisherman's Wharf.I'm wondering if the autograph is real or something that was pre printed on the menu.Anyone out there have any ideas?
Edited because I can't seem to get the picture to post

Check the thing with a strong magnifying glass, tipping the menu from side to sire under a strong light ... if it is preprinted it will look the same as other printing, kinda flat.
If it was applied later, you can USUALLY see the ink lying on the surface of the other printing, or detect an indentation where the signature dented the fibers of the paper.

It worked! (finally)Thanks again Joice. The autograph looks to me like it was done with a fountain pen but I don't know for sure,I've never seen one of these menus before.

mikea -
If the autograph is the same color as the ink on the rest of the menu, it's probably printed on the menu.

Mikea- Even if the signature is a preprint you did well for $2.00. Another thing to look for is an indentation into the paper that was caused by the pen.
