Well, it's happening again! Searching for items on ebay is not possible.... When I do a search for lobby cards, I get a message, "Books Movies Music items are currently unavailable" on each of the listings. THe Ebay item numbers appear, but when you click on one of them, I get a message stating that this functionality is not available. If the problem persists, contact support. AND, the support, is a URL which brings you to a screen that attempts to get you to use their "online" help. When you insist on contacting customer support, you get a message stating that "most" inquiries are answered within 12-36 hours!!!!!!
That doesn't help very much! Additionally, (and this is the most appalling item), there is no mention of this on the EBAY community board!
Anyone else have thoughts on this?

I went back and took another look, and this time I noticed it's only books closing TODAY that are affected! That's extra sweet!!!
not to freak out, though... ; - )

yeah, it's called the early Sunday morning unscheduled scheduled maintenance or SLUMP. Maybe they have to cut their hours now that they laid off 700 people.

...actually, I'm confused. I have 7 of 15 auctions affected. I know some of them were set to close today, but come to think of it, that should only be about 4. The weird part is that I do have book auctions unaffected, with later closing dates.
yuck yuck yuck! I do know that one set closing today was aiming for higher bids!

It's NOT just books and movies. I'm trying to bid on a kiln and the "functionality is unavailable" there too. Apperently the functionality expert whos function it is to see that functionality functions are functionally reported on the message boards, who's functionality seems to be functioning as functionally intended, is not functioning this early in the function morning.

I just checked the announcement board and there is nothing there regarding this problem. I know it was this way at 6:30 Ohio time when I got up. I have books ending today but when I tried to look at some books ending next week, it wouldn't show those pages either.

The whole books movies music category is down this morning. Unfortunately all I sell are books, and thus all of my auctions are unavailable. I have over 500 auctions up and they all end today.
As usual, no one at ebay responds to any of this.

All books listed as books are unavailable
but those books that I listed under Art or
Computer categories are still there.
I hope they haven't been moved to half.com!

Books etc were unavailable this morning when I got up at 6:30 (NC) and currently at 8:30 they are still not working. I also have things ending today, which are now showing as being listed on 1/7 and ending on 1/7 with no bids! What a crock! Nothing on the announcement board and also you can't use the Discussion boards over on Ebay cause it won't process your user name and password!

Not that it makes the SLIGHTEST difference, but everything WAS OK at about 4:30A (eastern).
Apparently someone turned on one too many 25-watt lightbulbs in the SF Bay area, and blew the whole Cal. Power Grid. (You've certainly heard of the shortage out there?)
And I can't get through from ebay UK or Germany, either - in case anyone else was planning to try.

That error re books is really nuts I looked at my auctions this morning and I don't even have any for sell, and it shows 6 or 8 on my page closed with no bid, and when I click on the item, like you say, says currently unavailable. Hope they don't charge me for a listing I don't even have

Believe it or not, horizonod, that's exactly what I asked in my thread at the start of the BIG CRASH of '99.
I'm suing for plagiarism.

I don't believe it!!:^)
If you want to sue me you'll have to wait 10 days then go fill out an "internet plagerism cease and desist form". That form must be filled out in triplicate using pre 1945 Hirishima rice paper and the blood of a 20 year old virgin (good luck). Delivery must be between the hours of 9 pm and 3 am via US Postal service to my PO Box in Antarctica. Upon reciept of these forms you may file your claim only with my express permission and only if you appoint my wife as your attorney at the going rate of $150.00 per hour. On the outside chance you should win your case you will then need to file an insurance claim with Lloydes of London and wait until cows fly or hell freezes over or or both. After that you can expect a reply within 24 to 36 hours or perhaps never at our option.
See. Dealing with Greed EBAY has taught me a few things. And they say you can't teach an old dog to make a silk purse out of a cows ear:^)

Actually, I believe the thread still exists in the archives. However, AW was having their own problems at the time, and many users had their registrations wiped, resulting in many, many posts showing without attribution. I can't remember if mine was hit before or after that.
(THIS IS TRUE.)
But I have just won a case of the rice paper, have a bid pending on a winged cow, and expect a callback from your wife momentarily.
Start sweating.

Guess I'd better close my PO box in Antarctica with no forwarding address:^)
My guess is you won't find the blood of a virgin on Ebay with thier "body parts" restrictions. That's gonna have to be a local find.
Just to warn you. I'll be bidding on every winged cow that comes up just to hedge my bets.
Let the bidding wars commence!!

There's an Old Maid (she plays a LOT of cards) who lives a couple of blocks over. . .
I'll use one of the "People Finders" the 'net spammers keep offering for the OTHER situation.
But right now, I'm going back to REAL bidding
Edited 'cause my SPILL CHICKEE was OFF.
