What do you guys think of this kind of selling? The auction was back when I was looking for a pager. I lookd at the description, and it said xxwhateverbrand pager. (ONE line of the kind of pager it is.) Then this HUGE LONG paragraph on how he will not tolerate deadbeats and if you want to bid, make sure you read the description first, and how you should ask all questions first, blah blah blah... and guess what. NO description!! Not one more word about the actual item or features or ANYTHING!! This was a big turn off cos I needed info about the pager, not an epic volume about what he won't tolerate. So of course I skipped that one and bid on someone else's pager, and won. Next thing ya know, I was looking for a Playstation game, found the one I wanted, looked at the auction, and it was the SAME guy and the SAME long rant, and NO info about the game!!! Just "Silent Hill Playstation Game". ONE line. The end. ?? I emailed him and asked him did it come with the manual, etc, and I told him about how I had seen his pager but how he didn't have any info on it. (Just trying to "help" if he cared. Ya know, giving MHO.) He wrote back and said yes the game comes with the manual and it's new in the case, etc. etc, Ya know, it was something I definitely would've bid on cos it came with everything I wanted, but how was anyone to know this from his auction? He said "People just assume it comes with it, so I don't say all that." What is he nuts? I wouldn't ASSUME anything, would you? And he sure does have enough to say about deadbeats and bidding and payments and etc etc etc. By the way, I didn't even buy the game from him cos I just don't like the way he sells. I try to keep my TOS to the point, short and friendly, and give as much info about the item as I can, not long and wordy, but ya know, the facts, as most of us say here. I think this guy took a course in "How to NOT sell good items." What the.... ??

I know exactly what you mean! Actually I think he/she is teaching the course.

It is amazing to find sellers such as this with impressive feedback. I don't have time to waste on sellers with these types of auction sites to check out their feedbacks -I just move on. How many are non-transactions (from yester-days) and if any of the feedbacks look "suspicious" (*self-induced* from the same or other developed user id or *back-slapping* feedbacks from friends/associates).

Some sellers just don't get it...particularly my money!

I looked at 3 auctions this evening, all newbies 20 or less fb and all 3 had long, long tos but no description. And they wonder why they don't get bids!

If someone's TOS is in attack mode - why bother bidding? I already have enough stress in my life!

If the seller is so unhappy with the way his customers are treating him perhaps it is time to exit eBay and head into another field. I am a firm believer in customer service. Sure, things do not always work out perfectly BUT you can always do your best to keep the customer happy.

BUT we all must keep in mind that those with attack mode TOS are VERY good for our business. One less competitor!

I agree - I have a pretty simple TOS post in my descriptions - but I try to describe the item in FULL detail. I would be embarrassed as a seller to have an item listed and my TOS is longer than my description of the item.

That is a turn off!

Well, as for me. I have drastically reduced my descriptions to basically 2-3 sentences of simple facts about the items. Measurements, color, and condition.

I have done away with my TOS and simply list the payment methods I will accept.

Since I have implemented this change I am getting more bids and a higher percentage of sales.

From my own experience I see that my buyers are not reading my auctions or they simply look at the pictures and bid.

NYCROCKER,

You cant blame the seller to much. I am sure the seller has very good reasons for such threatening TOS. I am sure he has been burnt (probably several times) and has no idea how to stop it.
