It seems to me that bidding has been
incredibly slow this week. Is
it just me? I wonder if:

1.It could be a reflection of the
increase in postal rates. If so,
do you think this will be short
lived?

2. It could be due to increased
competition from Yahoo sellers
who have switched over to ebay
due to the new fees.

3. People are worried about the
slow due in the economy and
their underperforming stock
portfolios.

4. People are just plain broke
after the holiday season.

Any thoughts?

The usual post holiday slowdown.

The type of items listed also is a factor.

My sales slow down right before the holidays and go like gangbusters starting the day after Christmas. My stuff is flying off eBay right now.

hard to say if bidding is slow this week today is the frist day of the new week.

But even with the outage today I got my frist bid this week.

I think it's just a January thing. In the retail world there was always a slowdown in Jan each year. I had a slow week, but today I sold a bunch of stuff! Ya just never know!

Kristie: I'm with you 100% on this. This topic was going hot and heavy on a thread last week too. Bidding is definitely down on ... antiques, pottery, glassware, linens & lace, jewelry, lighting. We list in ALL of those categories and the last two weeks were our slowest in our entire tenure on eBay.

We are getting at least one BIN per day. I do think ultimately BIN is NOT helping us. Just discourages regular bidding. Any other opinions on BIN? Anyone else think it is hurting bidding?

I had the most bizarre Friday, in that bids were coming in all day long, and some were incredible. Wonderful, but highly unusual.

Then the weekend came and it seemed to go completely dead. I'm not too concerned - none of mine end until Tuesday night anyway.

Unless you have auctions actually ending and the bidding doesn't happen, don't ever consider it a slowdown. These lulls are unpredictable and don't mean anything in the long run, but it's funny how they can get to you. It ain't over til it's over.

No slow down here.

I have 66 current auctions, including 13 launched tonight with none ending till tomorrow.

28 currently have bids.

16 have multiple bids

30 day bid percentage (including all currently active auctions) 65%.

30 sales percentage 78%.

These are all first run auctions. I seldom relist on Ebay.

No, things are going well, esp. BIN sales. I don't have much listed but maybe the stuff is a bit higher-quality than larger batches of "iffy" stuff.
