I see thousands of "secrets to success, make $$$ on eBay" auctions that are supposed to reveal wholesale sources etc., Then I got to thinking, if these secrets are soooo successful why are these people selling this and not following their own methods, why do they instead have hundreds of auctions for the same item with just a few bids at just a few dollars each? well obviously it's just b.s.
So.... how does one go about finding legitimate wholesale sources? I have searched and searched the web but to no avail. I have a resale license and would like to try to make some extra bucks.Any suggestions?

I don't know if this will help, depends upon where you live.
I have had a retail business for over 20 years and just launched a website last year, so I have been dealing with wholesalers, and manufacutrers for many years.
When I am looking for a couple of new lines to add To my business, I go to trade/wholesale shows. These are usually in big cities N.Y, Atlanta, Orlando, Phoenix, Las Vegas etc. You will find mostly manufacturers reps there, some actual manufacturers, and somwe that are not really wholesale, so you need to really shop at them.
I tried to find wholesalers on the web, but never came up with any true wholesale prices. My manufacturers, and wholesalers don't advertise on the net, only for retail customers. if they did, they would loose their regular retailers, like me.
hope this helps.

I rarely find things on the internet, and if you do, that means some else can just as easily and therefore you have competetion and make less money. Stick to personal connections or shows.

depending on the type of mdse. you are looking for. If you have a flea market near, you can visit their office usually they have trade papers and booklets published with all kinds of wholesalers. Keep in mind that these publications gear themselves to flea market vendors. This is a start and would at least get your foot in the door and exposure to the wholesale industry. If you see quite a few addresses in one genral local this gives you an idea that there are probably others, it is worth investigating. Hopes this helps.

I've had pretty good luck at tradeout.com It's a site where companies sell their excess stock, generaly below wholesale.
