Sheesh! I sent it Priority Mail w/ Delivery Confirmation on Jan. 3rd. I was hoping sending it Priority would help ease the situation and save me a neg (unfortunately it's a very large refund).

Now it's the 9th and he still does not have his refund check. He's been very reasonable so far, but I could tell by his last email that he's starting to wonder. I've been checking the DC track a couple times a day for the last few days and it still says "en route". 6 days for Priority? It's only going from Missouri to Ohio.

If I would have sent it First Class it probably would have been there already. Just my luck.

St. Louis is notorious within the Postal Service as the sloppiest mail center in the country, rivaled only by Chicago.

Loosecannon ......... You might find this eBay thread informative?

http://remarq.ebay.com/ebay/transcript.asp?g=discuss%2Eebay%2Ethe%2Esoap%2Dbox&tn=205914&sh=00e93a1d70b4d6a9&idx=-1

I might add, I sent a $400 parcel via Canada Post Xpresspost USA recently, and 3 WEEKS later it was returned to me. The USPS Priorty mail sticker was on it, and there was no mention as to why it was returned. My postie was stumped as well?

I expected my customer to flip out about the delay, her response:
"No problem, I just had the same thing happen to me today on a parcel I sent to my sister a few states over, 2 WEEKS ago"

Generally when you add a trackable element to a mail piece it tends to slow it down a bit.

Ken,

We're close to Kansas City. I believe all our mail is routed through there. Even if we send a letter to St. Joseph, which is a large town and is way closer to us than KC, it goes to KC first.

Can you provide the individual you sent the refund to with the tracking number? That way he may be able to track it himself...

One year. Took one of my priority packages one year to get there.

Buyer emailed me over the weekend.
Said he bought from me last Christmas, he never got his package and I was quick to send him a replacement.

Said he got the original package last week, with a postage mailing date of Jan 3, 2000.

Anything can happen with the post office.

I thanked him for his honesty and told him to keep the package.

loosecannon, my local postal clerk told me that those flat Priority envelopes with just a document or 2 in them (I'm assuming that's what you used) tend to fall onto the floor and get kicked under machinery during the sorting process. They eventually get dug out, but they can really get held up for a while. Since she told me this, I no longer use Priority Mail for sending envelopes with payments. Good old first-class mail seems to get there faster.

We sent out a package insured on Dec 28th. Shipping to CA. Type in our number and comes back en route. Cant figure that one out either. Paying more for the service and it seems like it is getting worse.

That sounds more and more likely each day that passes. I can just see this guy not getting it for days or even longer, and leaving a neg. I can't afford to do anything but wait. It'll cost me 25.00 to stop payment on that check, if it comes to that.

Hallelujiah!

I just checked the tracking again. It says it's delivered.

Still, that's pretty cruddy service. I didn't get the 2-3 day service that I paid for.

If you must send checks by Priority Mail, use a box instead of an envelope - and add a lollipop or some candy for weight.

Then, the payment gets there - and the receiver loves you!

Loosecannon: Glad to hear your check made it. But IMHO, Priority Mail is a joke. Plain and simple. It's not priority at all. It gets there when it gets there.
